An illustration of two profiles - a woman on the left and a man on the right - with a violin and bow in between them. They are looking directly into each other's eyes. Several different objects are arranged around them, including some Monopoly pieces, a satsuma mandarin, and a spilled bottle of vitamins. A border of oak leaves surrounds them. The limited color palette used is dark plum, mint, peach, bright red, bright pink, and a light olive green.

A recent #illustration for PineStraw & O'Henry Mag, to accompany Katherine Min's The Music Lover. I wanted to give this piece a kind of star-crossed lovers vibe, with a sprinkle of angst and mystery. Lots of fun to work on and an honor to illustrate one of Min's pieces. #editorialillustration #art

⭐ Brave Like Fireweed received a SLJ Starred Review! Hooray!

They state that BLF is "a thoughtful offering for SEL units as well as an upbeat lesson on resiliency in nature; this is also a great choice for sharing one-on-one".

This kept me from having a regular sketchbook practice for YEARS and then when I finally just embraced the β€œbad” I started finding gems along the way. Now I draw in my sketchbook every morning. It’s really transformed my work!

An open sketchbook on a wooden table showing a drawing of a girl walking through grass and trees. She is wearing a bright red backpack and looking over her shoulder. A big bird flies across the foreground while smaller bird shapes are visible in the distance.

This week’s #sketchbook spread for FOLLOW. The colors didn’t come out exactly like I had imagined but I had lots of fun making it. I love when sketchbook work gives me a little reminder to focus on the process rather than the product 🌿πŸͺΆπŸŽ’

Lol the overfilled stew-ish scramble is a constant struggle

This looks delicious! I love quinoa. I put it in salads a lot BUT if you bake it in the oven with a little olive oil until crispy after cooking it and THEN add it to the salad, it takes everything up several notches!

An open sketchbook is on a wooden table, with four wax pastel crayons and a mug of coffee beside it. The sketchbook drawing shows large, bright abstract florals with a red fox underneath. The fox has its nose pointed up to a moon.

We went to see that new horror movie, Longlegs - unfortunately I can’t recommend it, I didn’t think it was very good at all πŸ˜‚ But the popcorn was delicious!

Wow, it was so fun reading what everyone did! Makes me want to go do all of the things πŸ˜‚ I went out to dinner at a new restaurant last night and the food was soooo good. Then we went to see a movie at the theater. It was a hot and rainy day so it felt like the perfect evening activity!

This was such a great read! I also have a Pina Zangaro screwpost portfolio that I use when I show printed work and I absolutely love it.
