Delighted to see this story out and collaborate with amazing teams led by @jdegregori.bsky.social Mercedes Rincon & @roelvermeulen.bsky.social. Proud to see science propelled by our lab @cdi-einstein.bsky.social expanded to better understand cancer dormancy. Congrats! www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Hidden in the lungs of some breast cancer survivors are tumor cells that can remain dormant for decades — until they one day trigger a relapse.
Now, experiments show for the first time these rogue cells can be roused from their slumber by common respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19 or the flu.
For early career researchers in our community - this is invaluable. Info here:

Check out how we tackled one of the fundamental challenges in immunology, out today @cp-cellsystems.bsky.social: www.cell.com/cell-systems.... Our major innovations are BATCAVE and BATMAN, two new players to get us closer to solving TCR-pMHC predictions!
It's my first #newPI roll call on BlueSky! Calling all new #cancer PIs who just started or who are about to start their labs! Please say hi and what you work on so I can follow you if I don't already! 😃
📢 Open Call! The Max Perutz Labs invite applications for a Tenure-Track Professorship in Mechanistic Cell and Developmental Biology. More details ➡️ tinyurl.com/3fbkp89c
@megeblad.bsky.social once more revealing significant cancer biology - Congrats!

A fascinating study reports that neutrophils and NETs actively induce tumor necrosis. Congratulations, BDP @megeblad.bsky.social and @adrover.bsky.social on your latest publication in @nature.com.
Our latest review !
Great news! The AACR journals are now on BlueSky! Be sure to follow @aacrjournals.bsky.social!! #FollowFriday
I can confirm the PBS Passport is a very good deal for $5/month or $2.50/month if you do yearly.
Thousands of hours of top notch content. NOVA is great. The new Ken Burns doc on Leonardo da Vinci is excellent.

Check out some #CoolScienceImages (with music by Victor Leksell) from a @nature.com paper. In the study, @adrover.bsky.social, @megeblad.bsky.social, et al. found that neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) drive tumor necrosis and metastasis: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

I hear you 😉 We found a type of clot-causing neutrophils in cancer. By blocking tumor vessels, they drive tumor necrosis, which in turn cause metastasis. Key message: Necrosis can be an active process and necrosis can cause metastasis. Free link to article here: www.nature.com/articles/s41...
As a new postdoc in my lab (@cshlnews.bsky.social → @jhu.edu) @adrover.bsky.social (now @crick.ac.uk) saw NETs in tumors—I shrugged. But he looked closer in 3D: NETs block tumor vessels, driving necrosis, hypoxia, EMT & metastasis.

Exciting new work at @nature.com showing that Neutrophil Extracellular Traps in the vasculature can actively promote necrosis in cancer and that targeting NETs is can reduce necrosis and metastasis. Great work from @adrover.bsky.social @megeblad.bsky.social
I’m happy to share our latest work on tumour necrosis! During my time in the @megeblad.bsky.social lab, we found that tumour necrosis is not a passive phenomenon secondary to tumour growth, but an active phenomenon driven by neutrophils and NETs! Thread below: (1/13)

#WeekendRead! #BeyondNETosis! @caroleparentlab.bsky.social @sbarya.bsky.social &co show @natcellbio.nature.com that neutrophils can secrete nuclear-derived exosomes containing LTB4 & DNA which direct migration but at also favor inflammation resolution via neutrophil retrotransmigration!
We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to come work with us: www.cruk.manchester.ac.uk/career/mi-25... Please reach out
Very smart, high ROI initiative from the Spencer Foundation.
Providing bridge funding for canceled NSF grants:
1) directs funds to projects already screened by a top-noch review process.
2) avoids imposing proposal prep costs on researchers.
3) ameliorates the disruption from GOP sabotage.
I'm so excited for #ICDB2025, it's looking like such a great meeting and I'm honored to share our work!
