I Am An AI Hater I am an AI hater. This is considered rude, but I do not care, because I am a hater.

I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.

PSA. The people asking for disabled poor people to "share" their experiences for their orgs to collect & use are not doing so out of the goodness of their hearts. Your experiences and insights have value - including monetary value. They get grants & build careers out of your suffering.

Questions about Randa Abdel-Fattah inclusion in NSW writers festival The NSW government makes contact with the board of next month's Newcastle Writers Festival about the inclusion of Palestinian author Randa Abdel-Fattah, the ABC understands.

Clearly it’s time to appoint a permanent officer in the government to look over all the festival programs. Some fellow in a centralised office where all the art can be submitted beforehand, to make sure it’s socially cohesive. Some kind of Chief Approver, if you like www.abc.net.au/news/2026-02...

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

“We can’t eliminate SARS.”

We can, and we did.

“Well poor countries can’t do it.”

Poor countries eliminate bad diseases all the time, with some outside help in the past. Yeah. Even airborne ones.

The only reason we have COVID-19 circulating is because rich countries said so.

To be clear, to talk of one section of society "reclaiming" land which was stolen by our settler-colonial state and whose sovereignty remains unceded, and when settler-colonialism is at the heart of the current racialised rupture, is just grotesque

Little note in the new Bill on Hate Speech

Good thing there will never be a Minister who acts in bad faith when they go about banning groups.

Map of colonial frontier massacres in Australia 1788-1930 This map shows documented massacres of the First Nations peoples across Australia, from the early years of the colony to within several decades of living memory.

Adelaide Festival Board & Premier Peter Malinauskas made a race-based consience choice by erasuring the 10,000+ First Nations people who were massacred by British soliders, Aust police & settlers during 1788 to 1930. Some single massacres resulted in 100s of deaths.

Melbourne & Geelong facing likely water restrictions means Victorian councils should reject all new AI-fiddling & other private data centres which use vast amounts of water for no good reason. We need our trees & gardens.

just so it's clear: this is the exact core function of genAI

Fascist government and climate deniers love it because it can produce the aesthetics of knowledge without any actual tendency towards truth. It is automated denialism.

Shame on every climate scientist promoting its use (there are lots)

Incredibly moving interview with Sydney philosophy professor Peter Slezak, son of Holocaust survivors.

“Recognising Palestine was the right thing to do - in fact it was long overdue. How on earth can that be connected to two mass murders who commit an atrocity?”

This is Alice's friend Sandy Ho, posting. Per Alice's wishes, this message is being shared at the time of her passing.
Hi everyone, it looks like I ran out of time. I have so many dreams that I wanted to fulfill and plans to create new stories for you. There are a few in progress that might come to fruition in a few years if things work out. I did not ever imagine I would live to this age and end up a writer, editor, activist, and more. As a kid riddled with insecurity and internalized ableism, I could not see a path forward. It was thanks to friendships and some great teachers who believed in me that I was able to fight my way out of miserable situations into a place where I finally felt comfortable in my skin.
We need more stories about us and our culture.
You all, we all, deserve the everything and more in such a hostile, ableist environment. Our wisdom is incisive and unflinching. I'm honored to be your ancestor and believe disabled oracles like us will light the way to the future. Don't let the bastards grind you down. I love you all.

💔 Alice Wong’s last words: “Don’t let the bastards grind you down.”

We can never thank Alice enough for fighting all the good fights and especially all the hard fights. We all learned so much from your brilliance, your courage, and your indefatigable leadership. We will never forget you.

I’m heartsick to hear that the incomparable Alice Wong has passed. Her loss will be felt keenly, by many, and for a long time. She is a force, a generous leader and storyteller, and an oracle for disabled futures. Much love to Alice and to all our crip kin and comrades. ❤️‍🩹
