If the waves set of teaching ideas makes you want more of the same then a reminder that this is the forces and motion set that I shared in January.

What the BLOOM-AI Framework Gets Wrong About How Learning Happens carlhendrick.substack.com/p/the-bloom-...
Nice blog. FLMOP is like a magic trick for better behaviour, and I like the concreteness of the scenarios and strategies presented here. Check it out, and thank you Mason for writing!
How to teach sentence writing in science to develop deeper understanding. A new post readingforlearning.org/2025/04/15/b...
I love how you are constructing these sentences from what, when and why.
I am going to give this a go after the Easter hols

I run 10km for the first time this morning!
A great way to start my Easter break
The section from over 500 science teachers' joint submission to the curriculum review referring to coursework:
There’s someone who gives good advice re the UK Teachers Pension. I’ve got a relative who urgently needs advice. Can Bluesky do their thing?
So cool!
Works through wordplay.
Sprays coffee out of nose.
LOL.
Minute Cryptic - 16 February 2025

Diagram of various secondary mirror support arm shapes in a telescope and the associated diffraction spikes pattern that results in the images acquired by that telescope.
The spikes you see coming out of stars in telescopic images mostly arise from the diffraction of light as it flows past the support arms that hold the secondary mirror in place. Diffraction is well understood, so which kind of support arms leads to which pattern is predictable. (I made this pic)
Thanks for posting these.
I am enjoying learning how to do cryptic clues one at a time.
I also got one under par.
Loving the way these are designed and make the students think and compare scenarios.
Excellent for discussion and checking understanding.
Thanks for sharing
Have you read ‘Factfulness’ by Hans Rosling.
It is a few years old now but Hans uses statistics to paint a positive picture of how the world is changing.
It challenged my world view for the better.
7km run this morning.
Great to get out in the fresh air.
This looks achievable and worthwhile. Fascinated to find out more.
There are two trainee science teachers at my school.
It would be very kind of you to share a link for them.
Thanks Dan
This is a fun demonstration to introduce refraction.

First run today after I tore my calf muscle playing football 7 weeks ago.
It feels great to be out again! Calf feels fine too
🍎 New folks to #ITeachPhysics: you may find these interactives and other resources useful!

That is a great demo. I have just finished Electric fields, need to make a note for next year.
Do you use an EHT for pd?
I enjoyed these (my daughter bought them originally )
Have you read the Stormlight books?Chunky but worthwhile.
Looks cool
I am using ‘Pepper’ to check for listening and inject some energy in my questioning after an explanation. I ask the same core questions in different ways to different students for a couple of minutes before moving on.
Some feeling of success but early days …
I find it easy.
For example I would type Set 10y3 Hw every Wed. The app would put routine into Today view every wed.
If you type every workday it repeats min to fri.
If you get more proficient you can also set up labels and filters.
It syncs across pc, phone iPad etc
I use an electronic to do list (Todoist) and set up daily and weekly tasks that repeat.
Part of my day is used to action all these routine tasks. Once ticked off they appear again at the set frequency I gave chosen.
CALLING ALL SCIENCE TEACHERS
The government has recently launched a Curriculum and Assessment Review. It is crucial that our voices are heard. I have written a submission below, and you are welcome to be a co-signatory!

I did a 8.5km run this morning. Crisp fresh air, foggy in parts. Lovely.
Not quite up to the level of 100k in a month though!
