Last week I had the pleasure of speaking at the 14th Fellows’ Meeting in Nuremberg 🇩🇪
The energy and curiosity of the next generation of rheumatologists was striking, exactly what we need as we enter an era of complex, mechanism-driven therapies.
Very grateful to the organisers for the invitation!

What stood out most this weekend was the shared ambition across the EULAR community to move beyond traditional teaching models and move towards more interactive, case-based, and translational learning that truly reflects modern practice 🏥
With the pace of innovation in this space from CAR T cell therapies to next-generation cell therapies there’s a real opportunity (and responsibility) to rethink how we teach these concepts in a clinically meaningful way in the midst of a rapidly evolving and exciting landscape 🔍
Great to spend the weekend in Budapest at the @eular.org Teaching & Learning Seminar. An inspiring few days focused on how we educate in rheumatology💡
I’m delighted to have recently taken on the role of Lead Author for Cell and Gene Therapies within the EULAR Course 🧬
🥇 Honoured to receive the Best Abstract Award at the European Lupus Meeting in Lisbon 🇵🇹 for our abstract “Functional iron deficiency drives metabolic reprogramming in classical monocytes in #SLE.”
Grateful to an amazing team & the patients who make this research possible
Wonderful news to start 2026 with! Access to Obinutuzumab has been granted for patients living with lupus nephritis!

Humbled to receive the Educational Supervisor Award at the GKT School of Medical Education Awards
On rushing from clinic to the award ceremonially I past the med school library, which made me reflect on my own student days & the excitement of learning medicine 💡
Super proud of Rym Abida (MD and PhD student) presenting our data on the work she has been leading on investigating predictive biomarkers of sustained remission in #SLE at the British Society for Immunology conference last week! ⭐️

A great (and very rapid) trip to Birmingham this morning. It was a pleasure to be invited to speak at the National Lupus Nurse Network meeting today
After a couple of months of trying, I took advantage of last night’s new moon, and with Saturn in opposition, I was finally able to capture a decent shot from my East London rooftop 🪐
Really interesting & important data here!
HCQ does not prevent progression from an at risk state to full classification criteria #SLE ⚡️
I suspect we need to better define molecularly who will progress. My personal feeling is adaptive immunity may be the required target 🎯
