We are the people who train poll workers, run food banks, fight discrimination, protect the right to protest, and staff domestic violence hotlines. We are the ones who make sure that everyone can live, love, vote, work, study, travel and simply be themselves, free from discrimination. This administration views that as a threat to its power. In order to have absolute power, it must dismantle our rights. And that’s why they’re coming after us.

Not surprising Trump and Miller are going after a group that has held white nationalists accountable but it’s still bone chilling that they are criminalizing dissent. Grateful for LCCHR’s clarity in this moment.

In abusive relationships, the end can be the most dangerous part Two tragedies, in Virginia and Louisiana, highlight the peril that some women and children face during divorce or separation.

Every month on average, more than 70 women are shot and killed by an intimate partner, according to Everytown for Gun Safety. “At the point when a woman is choosing to try and leave a violent and abusive partner, it means that the violence has escalated for some time.” via @19thnews.org

And they are free to discriminate all they want, just not with taxpayer’s money. You want the dollars, you need to agree to not exclude people bc of who they are or who they pray to. Pretty basic under pluralism

Shreveport. What words are there for something like this. I am trying to tally the number of Black women and children shot at or killed in the last week because a man couldn’t handle that his intimate access to the woman was being ended. It’s too many.

The Inside Story of Five Days That Remade the Supreme Court

it is, among other things, incredibly striking to see that roberts was so solicitous of the burden the clean power plan might put on fossil fuel executives, when, a decade later, he is indifferent to the way trump’s moves have thrown hundreds of thousands of lives into turmoil.

Mississippi Reveals Its Full History for America’s Anniversary Year Mississippi has taken to revealing its history as part of the state’s official commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary of the founding.

Mississippi’s warts-and-all approach to reflecting its history as part of the state’s official commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary is a stark contrast with what has taken place at the national level since President Donald Trump returned to the White House in January 2025.

They Said Discharge Petitions Don't Work on Immigration Policy. Ayanna Pressley Just Proved Them Wrong. Final vote on three-year extension of protections for 350,000 Haitians passed today 220-207.

“Discharge petitions almost never work. They require 218 signatures — a majority of the full House — and party leadership in both chambers typically treats them as threats to institutional order. On immigration, they have historically died well short of threshold. This one didn’t."

Damn straight it is. Flagging this is MT law. Gender discrimination (which by its very nature includes gender identity discrimination) doesn’t get strict scrutiny federally. Which is bs bc it should

If you paid even a penny in federal income tax last year, you paid more than:

Tesla
Southwest
Disney
Live Nation
HP
United
PayPal
CVS Health
Palantir
Citigroup
PG&E
3M

That's right. They paid $0 in federal income tax.

It's time for big corporations to pay their fair share.

This is a meaty, well-reported story that should be read twice — once to admire the influencers (a teacher and a lawyer) who fought for these women, and once to behold all the examples of moral, professional and political failure by lawmakers and media. www.politico.com/news/2026/04...

This taught me how important bystanders are in ending harassment. On one side, my classmates were competing for most indignant that the law won’t let them do what they want to women. On the other, our professor used his position & power to make it crystal clear this was unacceptable and shut it down

Democrats' growing credibility gap may cost them the midterms | Opinion New polling and early warning signs in Virginia and New York suggest Democrats' messaging and governing gap could cost them in the midterm elections.

Let me get this straight, MAGA former governor, TX right wing evangelical mom (link), and Jeff Bezos’ WaPo editorial board don’t like Spanberger bc she’s signing bills making life more affordable for workers?
Hope she makes them madder and signs paid leave into law

The professor did a great job using his position to make it crystal clear the guys’ views were not only wrong but also would not be tolerated in the classroom. I found that heartening
