Sulphur cosmos and Cosmo caudatus are both edible. Garden cosmos are not. Happy to share seeds of both edible varieties.

I love these sulphur cosmos for salads and pastries. They have such a beautiful hue. One of two edible varieties I grow. Spectacular. 🌼🌼

I don't know who needs this but: TOUGHER THAN TOM MOSQUITO TNT IS 25% OFF THIS WEEKEND.

Listen, I'm not an influencer or a sponsored lady.

I'm a human w/ skin & blood that is irresistible to mosquitoes. Toms works. IT WORKS. I'm a gardener in the deep south. IT WORKS. πŸ¦ŸπŸš«πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸŒΎπŸŒ±

It's #Tomato Thursday! And guess what? More #tomatoes have been harvested. This photo is titled, "Tomato overachiever found buried alive under masochistic amount of tomatoes." Gardening is hard work. Tomato recipes welcome. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸŒΎπŸ…πŸŒ±

Newsletters from @jefftiedrich.bsky.social catch me up on everything and let these gems embed themselves into my brain forever:

"worst case, you end up like Zelensky, tag-teamed by Donny and some shithead who fucks furniture."

Ty for your service, sir. 🫑

Not to mention I planted a bumper crop of 15 paste tomato plants lol WHY AM I LIKE THIS?!

1 year ago 2 0 1 0

I would gladly give you so many tomatoes. There is not a person who I see that don't force a bag on. Fed ex guy? Tomatoes. Mailman? Tomatoes. Solicitors trying to sell me a new roof? Tomatoes. Kids walking by on their way home from school? Tomatoes! Lol I'm gathering the amount in this photo daily.

As a Florida gardener I grow all of these and I must say, the mosquitos are not repelled. The one true mosquito repellent I grow is American Beautyberry, Callicarpa americana. The leaves/berries repel mosquitoes. You can make spray or crush the leaves and rub them on. Makes a hell of a jam, too.

The Great #Tomato Harvest of 2025 is here. Each year I plant too many & then collect them & complain every day until May. (Our season is from Sept-May, opposite of everyone else's.) This year, to add to my tomawoes, I planted a bumper crop. 'Mater Masochist in the house! 🌱 #OrganicGarden #Gardening

I like growing food, but as my gardening journey has evolved, I grow 30% flowers amongst the fruit and veg. I get higher yields, more pollinators and happiness year round. Here's a little color for your eyeballs. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸŒΎπŸŒ± #Gardening #CutFlowers #MyGarden #Gardener #FloridaGarden

Outside my window: My nemesis, the invasive #iguana. #Iguanas destroy our gardens, native plants, native species, microclimate ecosystem and spread salmonella. I plant blue pea everywhere so they eat the flowers, not my garden, but they're real fucking dicks. 🌱 #gardening #Florida #garden #pests #FL

In another time, knowing a celebrity or someone rich and connected in Miami was a flex.

In this time, knowing the organic egg plug from the chicken farm in the Southwest Ranches is the most Kardashian thing you can be doing with your life. 🌱

A harvest of bunches of ripe yellow bananas and green bananas.

This morning's #banana harvest. Did you know that when you harvest #bananas you have to knock down the whole tree? Yep. They are one timers. But they put out little baby trees, too. So it's a cycle. But also, a damn mission. Lol 🌱 #gardening #floridagarden #greenthumb #gardener #harvest #growfood

I grew some like this too! They were called black nebulas I think. Mostly all the red, purple and black ones I grow are super hairy lol for some reason these dark ones went brown in the cake. It was disappointing. I really thought I was about to make goth cake lol 🀣

Making new friends in the garden. #SulphurButterflies are born and grow into adult #caterpillars in my candlestick #cassia. Then they travel over to my strawberries and form their #chrysalis. I do it all for the ecosystem. πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸŒΎβ€οΈπŸŒ±

Today was a sad day as I discovered that purple/black carrots do not actually yield purple/black carrot cake.

Alas, In the end, all carrot cake becomes carrot cake color.

Luckily, it remains delicious.

But now I have baskets of purple/black #carrots to process.

Lol #gardening is fun. 🌱 #garden

It was so good. It's my favorite lemon pie bc the salty crust really cuts through the sugar and acid. It's so...bright. πŸ‹πŸ₯§

Lemon pie, salted sourdough crust w/ #ClitoriaTernatea flowers (butterfly pea/ #BluePea) from the garden. Double blues, double lavender, light blue & single blue flowers we picked this morning. W/ popcorn as packing peanuts so the pie wouldn't shift around. 🌱 #FreshBaked #Gardening #EdibleFlowers

I make blue pea/Clitoria lemonade every week. We bottle it. And I can't stress how amazing it is in bread. The Double Sky Blues grow along the window of my office. They're so beautiful and ruffled. I'm sure you will enjoy them.

Lol I love Clitoria Ternatea. I grow the purple, white, blue and double blue ones. Do you make tea with them? Great for anxiety. I also use them to dye my sourdough.

In FL it is legal to convert your front lawn into a garden. Most people who do this in HOA environments do it with a wide array of brassicas & ornamental varieties. As well as root veg. I've also seen them use creative domes for their tomatoes (they look like bushes). I'm rooting for you. Do it. β™‘
