This project—in anticipation of Frever and Scarth’s forthcoming book, 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘓𝘔𝘔 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘓.𝘔. 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘨𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘍𝘢𝘯𝘴, based on their Montgomery “origin” story project (yourlmmstory.com) —honours Montgomery’s work through celebration, stories and storytelling, gifts and flowers.
This co-authored reflection weaves Trinna Frever and Dr. Kate Scarth’s solo pieces together. The coda is a celebratory birthday toast to Montgomery and to story itself as they honour all sites of story, on the page and on the screen, in our lives and in our imaginations.
✍️✨ What began with flowers and continued with story comes together in “Flowery Passages and Story-Gifting,” a collaborative celebration of L.M. Montgomery’s 150th anniversary.

This celebratory essay honours 150 years since the birth of L.M. Montgomery in 1874 by considering the intersection of celebration and story. In Montgomery’s work, celebration and story are rooted in place, are experienced by budding writers, and relate to birth, that very first of birthdays.
✍️✨ The celebration continues! Here’s the next piece in our #Maud150: Back to the Future collection, offering a fresh perspective on Montgomery’s enduring influence.
