BOD? Bicycle Oriented Development?
Not only is it an industrial wasteland, getting over that railyard is going to be $$$$$!
The Fed relies on data and objective reality. Kevin Warsh’s refusal to acknowledge the 2020 election shows he’s more interested in politics than facts.
An independent Fed Chair needs a backbone, not a loyalty pledge. — Warsh is compromised. Hard pass.
History does not repeat but it often rhymes. March 4th 1918 a soldier on a military base in Kansas got sick with what we now call the flu. Within days 522 other soldiers got sick with this flu. The flu pandemic became so bad that we still have it today, every year, We call it flu season.
DUDE! This is huge! The endless complexity of biology is mind-blowing.
We have a letter for state and local organizations to sign to push Congress to prioritize investment in community transit, biking and walking over more highways. Please get your organization to sign! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
Anat Rubin and I co-wrote a story for @calmatters.org about the people behind Sheriff Chad Bianco's "election investigation" -- sovereign citizens, Christian nationalists, and "constitutional sheriffs."

still can’t believe that given the choice between “bountiful, free, clean energy from the earth, wind, and sun” and “poisonous dead animal sludge price sensitive to global politics” we keep choosing the latter
"Americans prefer large trucks and SUVs."
The reality:
I hate how in order to visit one of NYC's great waterfront parks you almost inevitably have to deal with crossing a highway, like the Belt Parkway here in Brooklyn.
And the tranquility of the views are definitely undermined by the constant roar of the cars!
Car infrastructure creates barriers to mobility, not the freedom of movement you've been brainwashed to believe.
This new bridge in downtown Helsinki is already my favorite spot in town.
You can have phone conversations, and hear people talking and kids laughing as they pass by.
The silence is astonishing, despite being so close to city centre.
Because there are no cars.

ICE is still kidnapping people in Minneapolis.
A graph showing the rise in citations for our 2023 motonormativity paper, up to 101 in total today
Given the considerable lags in the academic publishing process, I'm surprised and gratified by how rapidly motonormativity is becoming a thing in the literature
Here it is, my annual reminder: don't spray spring dandelions with roundup. One flower can be visited by 100+ bees in a day, and your chemicals will kill all of them. 🌻
Active travel: health, mental health, financial health, cost of living... Active travel is a social justice issue. We can't wait for governments to make changes... it may feel scary at first, but the benefit of active travel far outweighs the risk...

We've got to enable viable transportation alternatives in order to break car dependency. This is about the same distance that my daughter is from uni, but we've got zero active travel infrastructure in tiny Trinidad!

Uhaul parked fully blocking a 2 way curb protected bikeland on Blaisdell
If it fits, I sits… moving day edition.
Protected bikelanes are not for making moving day easier.
Blocking a bikelane like this is illegal bc it pushes people on bikes/motorized wheelchairs into the street with drivers, where they are more likely to be hurt or killed.
Don’t do this.

When people (drivers) are upset about distracted pedestrians, what they really mean is: I don't want the responsibility of driving my car with awareness and care, as if it might kill someone

Solar is delivering the equivalent of 27 nuclear plants during the day. Pumped hydro stores ~3 nuclear plants worth. Batteries already stepping in.
This isn’t a generation problem anymore. It’s storage scale.
Energy scarcity → energy timing. #BESS #Solar

New York votes socialism.
London votes socialism.
Amsterdam votes socialism.
Paris votes socialism.
Chicago votes socialism.
Milan votes socialism.
All the capitals of capitalism are voting for socialism.
There’s a hint here somewhere.
Looks like our planet’s climate sensitivity is much higher than most climate scientists realised.
Looks like Dr James Hansen was right.
