I notice there is little room for sensemaking or almost any of the math practices.

I wonder how much flexibility of understanding students will have if the concept is applied in a different way.

I also notice it describes many of my lessons for a large chunk of my career.

I am seeing if you take the first number on left and divide it evenly between other terms on the left side, you get the right side.
Also notice first number on the left side is always square number. (1/n)

Does this pattern (whatever it is) continue? If not, when does it first falter and how did you find the breakdown? If so, how might one justify it to a middle/high school student?

I've been making CII (Correct, Incorrect, Incomplete) tasks to deepen students' understanding of particular topics. First, they discuss the Correct work in groups and I ask them questions. They do the Incorrect column and we debrief, then they finish the Incomplete. #MTBoS #iteachmath bit.ly/3YXGpW2
