Development of #SpectralExpress is going fantastic, why do you ask?

Hey thanks! It wasn't the smoothest but we're making it work ๐Ÿคฃ i appreciate the sentiment :)

Don't think I've mentioned why there's a small hiatus in #SpectralExpress updates, but we've been packing for the move to our new house tomorrow. Not a lot of #GameDev time, haha. Will be back with more news in a couple days, once we figure out our internet at the new place!

Yeah, that is a good point, it certainly too fast paced.

It fits the tempo of how I play the game when testing it, but it way too fast for anyone who actually is trying to read what is going on in the game ๐Ÿคฃ

I will add more serious dark tracks ๐Ÿซ

Meanwhile, dropping the tempo seems to work ๐Ÿ˜…

i can't emphasize how much i actually like the melody on the organ, this is really good stuff!

you could've fooled me into thinking you've got years of experience haha, the adaptive tracks thing you've got going on is already a pretty advanced topic imo! Then again, I also have barely any clue what I'm doing when it comes to sound, haha. Either way though, impressive work for a week!

especially over a longer play session (though I assume you probably are going to have more than one track lol).

The transition for night time wasn't too much I thing, and I especially enjoyed the fight organ :D

Very nice tune! Did you compose this, or are you working with another artist? I also love that it adds/removes instruments depending on context, that's peak music design

The only thing I'm worried about is that it's a very chipper and fast tune, I am not sure how well it'll mesh with the mood

LOOPEDAL!! A DJ puzzle game about mixing and matching the sounds and colors your instruments make to keep the crowd raving!

i think this is a very positive change! You're right about it being subtle but effective, definitely one of those "you feel it missing when it isn't there" features

does the compass rotate with the character's facing direction, or is it just to show you're above/below ground?

that's a generous estimate, lol

it's getting harder and harder to get the search parameters to exclude AI results... and that's when the results are appropriately tagged as A, never mind when they aren't

looking nice!

Thank you for that in depth explanation! I love a solid implementation of toon shading, a lot of people who use it don't get their full mileage out of it due to non-complementary art styles. Definitely not something you have to worry about!

that sounds like the kind of question the answer for would be informed by many things, such as scope, time and other resources, genre conventions, and others

the general consensus is that roguelikes thrive on variety of content, so that seems like something worth playing around with

Oh wow, the lil guy must be pretty high detail then! Mind if I ask how many triangles you got going on on that model? I'm also curious where the line from model to post processing is and what post processing effects you are using. If you're willing/able to share of course, haha

This project is shaping up to become a pretty surreal experience, huh

that is peak absurd humor, lmao. Would this ability have uses other than jumping over pits? I-frames for attack avoidance perhaps? "bunny-hopping like a moron" comes to mind lol

I still interpret 2D games as "laying down" on the XoY plane, and take Z as the depth, because of growing up with top down games like zelda and jrpgs, hahaha. Games where the added dimension wouldn't mean horizontal depth but rather vertical.

Considering the amount of work you put into it, no wonder ๐Ÿ˜‚

Off topic, I like the health regen thing going on, is it a monster hunter kind of thing where half the damage you take heals up over time unless you take more damange?
