"A Poem for My Mother When She Doesn't Feel Beautiful" by Clementine von Radics Don’t worry about your body. It isn’t as small as it once was, but honestly, the world needs more of you. You look in the mirror like you’ve done something wrong, but you are perfect. Anyone who says otherwise is telling a lie to make you feel weak. And you know better. You have survived every single day for as long as you’ve been alive. You could spit fire if you wanted.
I could spit fire if I wanted
I looked up a picture of the wētā, and it's like a cross between a cricket and a lobster, the size of a hand
Oh no!! Our house is, for some reason, infested with regular crickets, and they make somewhat entertaining cat toys.
Also: aaaAaAAAAaaaaaAAAAA!!!
screencap of a tweet with a photo at the bottom of JD Vance giving a talk, gesturing smugly with his hands Eric Daugherty • @EricLDaugh • 1h • JD VANCE RESPONDS TO POPE LEO: "When the Pope says that God is never on the side of those who wield the sword - there is more than a THOUSAND year tradition of Just war Theory." "In the same way that it's important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy, I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology." "And I think that one of these issues here is that there has been - if you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth, and that's one of the things that I try to do, and it's certainly something I would expect from the clergy, whether they're Catholic or Protestant."
I’ve given this a great deal of thought, trying to come up with the perfect joke for this moment, and this is what I have so far -
POPE LEO: our religion teaches that this war is bad
VANCE: wow, who died and made YOU head of the Catholic Church??
POPE LEO: well, you should know, you were there

You also get gravity without a graviton with this model, an explanation for particle/wave duality (wave properties are a result of a particle that is "syncopated" with your universe but not expanding at the same rate, think 2/4 and 4/4 music only interacting on the downbeat)....
From the theory your universe and your experience of time is just everything that is absorbing energy and growing at the same rate you are and it nicely explains the experience of time being relative to the rate of it's measurement per this video.
This "pluriversal quantum expansion" assumes that matter/energy can only interact with things that are of a size/expanding in a way related to the rate it is and that that expansion is "quantized," or expands by a precise amount (2x) after that interaction.
You also get a mechanism where one universe can bleed into and interact with other universes in the same space with the experience being sorted out by the observer. A observer-dependent plural universe, or pluriverse.
If you imagine that everything, including atoms and and clock-observers, is expanding based on interactions with matter and energy, then you get an emergent property of time with size acting like a "primary key" for a universe that stores it's information in the form of volume. Space-time.
I am once more back on my BS-
@4:30 Data scientists have an analogy for something like this - all the data is already there, but how you access it depends on something called a "primary key."

A bright spot in the news. Firmly believe that right-to-repair suits like these are an irreplaceable part of progressive environmental policy worldwide
A hand-written office sign says "Days since last timezone issue". An orange post-it note reads: "-1".
I hate it when I wake up and find out that friends in Asia and Australia had a birthday yesterday.
I did like the change in the ship design and zenonite objects design to look more like they were made by a 3D printer. That felt like leaning into the spider side a bit

Ryan Gosling is a bit 'Ken in SPAAACE' in places, but otherwise exceeded expectations.
Sandra Hüller as Stratt is very different from the book, but I like both of them equally. My canonical version is now a blend of them both. 10/10, would follow on bsky.
Wishing everyone a very Orky Easter!🐰👹
Mathematically, "i" is the scale of the size limit/horizon opposite the origin point. It's harder to intuit on a plane, but imagine i^2 = -1 as walking around a planet and ending up opposite where you started.
More "i" as a vanishing point:

I Work Very Hard, And I Would Like To Try Cake By A Horse Hello. I am a horse. I work very hard at my job of being a horse. When humans say move the heavy thing, I move the heavy thing. When humans sit on top of me and pull on my head, I carry them where they want to go. The main food the humans give me is hay and oats. But I am thinking it would be nice to have a different food. I am thinking I would like to try cake. Yes, yes. Cake. I know all about it. When humans eat cake, it is in glad times. It is the food for a celebration, such as when a woman becomes 47. I have seen cake on the Fourth of July. When humans have a cake, they stand around it and clap hands and smile and say happy birthday at each other. Sometimes there are beautiful markings on a cake, such as balloons or a pink shape. Sometimes the top of a cake is on fire and a boy must blow on the fire with mouth wind. This is the scariest cake. I do not want this kind. But I will eat any other cake. Any cake that is not the fire cake that tries to kill the boy. Please understand: I do not get money for doing work. I do not get to go inside the house. All I am either doing my horse job or standing in my pen or eating food off the floor. I always do these things. But I have never once gotten cake and I would like it very much. I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children. I am more helpful to the farm. Children do not move the heavy things like me or let anyone ride on them. And yet they get cake. Maybe the humans will realize this. Maybe they will say, "You know who deserves cake? That horse. That horse whose back we are always on." Every day I dream about what it will be like if I get to eat cake. Here is what will happen. First, I will walk to the cake and putt my nose at it like hrrfff to make and stomping my hooves to make sure it is not a snake. Then I will trot in a circle to show that I am a horse and I am large. After that, I will nuzzle the cake to …
The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me.
It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."
