Gil Duran tweet: TLDR: Fascism
in response to Palantir's long fascists screed on X.
"Your Account is Suspended" Message on X
The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X.
I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!).
So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

Palantir’s deranged manifesto shows why it should be nowhere near our public services.
This is not a normal company, it's Trump's favourite tech firm and a danger to our NHS.

Opening text of a thread by Palantir from X
Because we get asked a lot.
The Technological Republic, in brief.
1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.
2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible.
3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.
4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.
Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

Tice ‘happy to put things right’ after ‘he failed to pay £100k in corporation tax’
Mr Tice said last year Angela Rayner would resign if she had “any moral decency” after admitting to underpaying stamp duty
Richard Tice deputy leader of Reform ran four shell companies which did not pay any tax on profits between 2020 and 2022.
He's now offering to "put things right".
Go on then Richard - resign.

It matters how a president speaks.
Because their words don’t just persuade — they set the boundaries of what feels possible, acceptable… even inevitable.
That’s how the unthinkable starts to sound normal, according to a scholar of presidential rhetoric.

A series of posts from journalist Mark Chadbourn reporting on the acceptance speech of Péter Magyar after Hungarian elections:
Péter Magyar: "Our country wants to live again. It wants to be a European country again."
Mark Chadbourn• @chadbourn.bsky.social • 24m
Magyar's speech is powered. From a contact in the audience: "He's basically just asked all the puppets, all the supreme justices, all the heads of media, all the heads of the ministries to leave their jobs tomorrow and not wait to be fired."
•..
Mark Chadbourn• @chadbourn.bsky.social • 22m
He's announced that Hungary will join the European Prosecution Office so anyone in the country can be charged.
Mark Chadbourn• @chadbourn.bsky.social • 21m
Magyar: "No mercy, they will need to take responsibility for all their actions."
...
Mark Chadbourn• @chadbourn.bsky.social • 20m
Magyar says he's starting work with the EU and NATO immediately.
"The EU doesn't have to worry anymore."
From new Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar's acceptance speech tonight. This is the absolute BARE MINIMUM platform for any Democrat running for President in 2028.

The wrong question is dominating the energy crisis debate.
Every interview starts the same: where do we find replacement fossil fuels and what happens to prices?
In this BBC interview I push back.
This is the moment to talk about escaping fossil fuel dependence - not the daily market noise.

Sky News: While Trump, the so-called leader of the free world, sits rage-posting on SM like a man screaming into a void, France, Japan, Philippines, & UK are quietly, methodically cutting deals with Iran.
The world has moved on.
US Mainstream Media is not covering a bit of this.

🚨 The emperor penguin is now officially endangered.
Climate change is shrinking the sea ice they depend on to breed, and when it breaks too early, chicks drown before they even have a chance. Some colonies are collapsing completely.

Trump is overhauling the United States Forest Service.
Dozens of research sites, including 6 in California, are shutting and offices merging. That means less science, fewer people on the ground, weaker planning, and potentially slower, harder-to-manage wildfires.

If the ceasefire holds (big if), the fairest way to “score” the war in Iran:
- clear operational successes. Large number of IRGC killed, Iranian Navy largely destroyed, etc.
- a massive tactical failure. 1/4

What is in Iran’s 10-point ceasefire plan, and will the US agree to it? This "plan," in light of a new day, looks less like a plan & more like a maximalist list of demands and ultimatums. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/a...

The Next Coup Attempt
And How to Stop It
War crimes are morally and legally wrong. But they also don’t win wars or get us beyond politics. Insofar as there is a logic to this it is to provoke the Iranians and then act shocked and go for a coup domestically.

I have read a statement
that “a whole civilization
will die tonight,
never to be brought back again,”
and as I read that statement
and as I reread that statement
I cannot shake the feeling
that the civilization
from which that statement comes
is one that is already dead.
