Cave of Forgotten Dreams - Shared Darkness In his documentaries Grizzly Man and Encounters at the End of the World, Werner Herzog worked as a kind of conjurer of elemental dread and awe, delving into modern man's relationship with his surround...

I saw Werner Herzog's incredible CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS more than 15 years ago, and it's never really left me. shareddarkness.com/2011/05/02/c... Happy that it's coming to IMAX; if you have a chance to see it on Sunday, April 19, you owe it to yourself to do so. www.imax.com/movie/cave-o...

The Anger Machine — NORAH WOODSEY Right now, I am so angry. Useless, nearly pitiful anger. I see the things you know about and are expecting me to list here.

"How do we hold on to what is sacred to us, when those in power are trying to rip us to pieces? How do we fight for justice and equality and democracy and freedom when those with power on “our side” have closer ties to the oppressors than to us?"

I would really like that to be the case, and am trying to hold on to the belief that it's possible.

The ultimate trivia stumper for any David Lynch fan: seventeen years ago today, the legendary filmmaker... shot a cameo in a heavily experimental Russian film? Yes, yes he did. Chapter 28 of my book THE DREAMER'S PATH has all the details! bit.ly/46WL5z1 #DavidLynch #TheDreamersPath

There is anger over all the terrible abuses of power, lying and venality, certainly. And sadness over all this country has lost — just willingly ceded.

But over and over again, the slightly reworked SUCCESSION line that comes to my mind with this administration is, “We are not serious people.”

I agree! So much of it holds up in remarkable fashion. And writing that chapter was a real joy -- unpacking the film with both Isabella Rossellini and Tina Rathborne, the latter of whom is much too hard on herself. She still largely sees the movie only for what it's not, alas.

Welcome home, Integrity! An incredible testament to science, general expertise-in-field, and human cooperation — all things under constant assault these days, sadly.

With the wait to get off, you know these astronauts never, ever complain about any deplaning delay.

A still from the backward-shot "This Video of David Lynch Is Not What It Seems," featuring Lynch splayed out as if on the floor underneath a desk. Raising his hands on either side of what looks like a gauze-wrapped light fixture, he conjures a small, color-animated figure who sways to Hawaiian music for thirty seconds before returning from whence she came.

Realizing that some of my inexplicable sadness about the Artemis II stuff is that it feels like a trans-dimensional communication from an America that took a different path and chose joy instead of fear and hate.

“Perpetually current” is I think a great way to describe it. The show itself (third season obviously, but original run too) contains multitudes, and it’s incredibly wonderful that there not only remains an audience for its ambitiousness and weirdness, but one that’s growing, actively seeking it out.
