KB test RBCs: the KB test is a method to quantify fetal RBCs in maternal circulation. Acid treatment of a maternal blood sample denatures HbA in the maternal RBCs but not HbF in the fetal RBCs. Treated cells are then stained such that fetal RBCs appear bright pink.
