Whoa. Provocative
RIP George Armitage, director of MIAMI BLUES and GROSSE POINT BLANK, both so good and, no matter how loved they might be by some, it still feels like they’re underrated. HIT MAN, his blaxploitation remake of GET CARTER, is a surprisingly cool spin on the original.
I’m making my way through the Argentine Noir films on @criterion.bsky.social and loving the Carlos Hugo Christensen ones

I used to go there all the time from 2003-2004, before the big remodel. One of my favorite things to do then was play Pink Floyd’s “Echoes” and see how many beers I could polish off before the track finished. It was such a great spot back then. Maybe it still is. I live on the west side now so 🤷

Roth’s filmmaking chops and sense of humor are on full display, as is his love for Happy Birthday to Me, Pieces, and the entire giallo genre

I miss peculiar movies like this getting wide theatrical releases. It’s a fascinating movie with a game cast.
Congratulations!
Great movie!

Welcome to Bluesky. We have rules here:
1) Never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected!
2) Take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary.
3) Be nice... until it's time... to *not* be nice.

Peter Hyams made a proper space western
How does it compare to the first and third movies?
I didn’t love The Drop the first time I saw it (a common occurrence with films that end up among my favorites), but you’re absolutely right. He’s fantastic in it, as is Gandolfini.

Such a joy when Ebert is enthusiastic about a film he connects with, especially when said film is Repo Man 🎥
