Old growth trees are facing extinction across the world, including Canada and the US under Trump pushing for more stumps (and money for the tree cutter cult)!

Another reason why people like RFK,Jr should never have been appointed to a government position for which they lack the knowledge or the will to learn or understand the science and medical research that such an position requires if one wants to save human lives and people's health.
To all of us on Spaceship Earth, Happy Earth Day! A Walt Kelly drawing from the first Earth Day in 1970. I was a senior in high school...
A photo of Earth taken by the crew of Artemis II.
Born in fire, battered by the wreckage of colliding worlds, covered for eons in magma, wracked by volcanoes, frozen and thawed again and again, and after everything went just wrong and right enough, here it is: our home. The rarest gift in the known universe.
Happy Earth Day.
Disgusting and idiotic what the #GOPMAGACult and Trump are doing! Wake up everyone and fight back by helping to elect Democrats and anyone else who oppose their anti-environment, anti-climate and anti-science nonsense that is destroying nature and our planet for corporations and greed.

The baobab Tree, mostly in Africa, can live for 1000s of years
Heat pumps, solar energy and wind can reduce or eliminate oil drilling off our coasts, strip mining and mountain top removal for coal as well as dependence on other nations for energy. Energy independence with alternative fuels and conservation can both reduce costs and negative climate impacts.

They are great but frequently are used by developers as alternatives to saving and planting trees that can significantly help to reduce urban heat island impacts. With better planning we can have trees and also green ground cover and flowers.
While we sleep or are consumed by other disastrous news …

“I think this will be a real wake-up call to what the real values of national forests are,” Dombeck said. “We need to really ask this administration: what is the end game when we take a look at this level of chaos?...Forest Service research facilities in 31 states will also close" to 1 in Colorado.
Absolutely love this
This extraordinary illustration, titled Wild World, is a hand-drawn global map created by artist and cartographer Anton thomas. Instead of political borders and city names, the map highlights wildlife, placing animals in their native habitats across every continent and ocean
The president’s 2027 budget proposal makes sweeping cuts across the Park Service budget, including a $736 million reduction (over 25%) to park operations, likely eliminating thousands more park staff after a year of severe losses.

www.nytimes.com/2026/02/26/c...? "Birds in the United States are not only declining, but they are declining faster, especially in areas with intensive agriculture, according to new research. Overall drops in bird population, measured from 1987 to 2021, were sharpest in warm and warming areas..."
Instead Trump is pushing for more oil and coal extraction and use - which will contribute to more negative climate impacts. Wind and solar energy increase energy independence. Trump's Iran war shows again the huge negative economic impacts of relying on oil as an energy resource.
Threats not just in Britain but also in US for freedom of speech and association.
Several tables are set with individuals behind them waiting to be served. The tables have signs — Education, Sciences, Arts, Healthcare… no one is serving them. All of the servers are delivering piles of money to the table where WAR is sitting. Political cartoon is from the 1950s Nothing has changed.
It has been this way since time immemorial.
Spending a billion a day on a ‘not’ war.
Meanwhile, all you suckers can starve, die because you can’t afford healthcare or find new treatments for disease. And who the fuck needs education and arts?
We aren’t mad enough!!
Totally agree - this is all on Trump and his #MAGAGOPCult followers. Time for new leadership. Time to oust the warmongers.
Time to return to agenda of getting off fossil fuels. Buy an ev if you buy a car. Put in a heat pump if you need a new heating supply. Take a bus or rapid transit when you can, instead of driving your car. Weatherize your home. Wean yourself off Trump's fossil fuel industry push. ETC.
In recognition of us doing fuck all to reduce emissions, let me remind y'all that carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is useless unless we decarbonize drastically.

A nation cannot last long by denying reality.
Around the world, legal action is emerging as a powerful driver for #ClimateAction and accountability.

"The enemy of a good plan is the dream of a perfect plan." - Carl von Clausewitz, author of "On War"
The Middle East oil and war fiasco should be be a wake up call and incentive to become independent of fossil fuels and not be held hostage by them in international politics and warring nations and energy dependence.
