Thank you for this insightful summary of the broader benefits of protecting childhoods from poverty. Without being complacent the Scottish Child Payment has evidenced that effective social security measures can directly lift children out of poverty, it can be done quickly and effectively.

New @jrf-uk.bsky.social research reveals Bangladeshi, Black African and Pakistani families are up to 5x more likely to be living in persistent very deep poverty compared to white families in the UK.

Whilst these are great statistics for women in the labour market, the reality is without a working social and child care system, these stats are at the cost of women’s mental and physical health. We were told we could have it all……
