Coming back from the XIX REDEX celebrated in Huelva! It was a great time to present the research that we do in the lab from resistome in wastewater to natural microbial communities. We could also talk with colleagues and friends about future projects and even visit Rio Tinto!

We observed how nitrification is a prevalent metabolism in winter dominated by Nitrososphaeria and nitrite oxidizing bacteria. In summer different heterotrophic bacteria express a variety of machineries to use different nitrogen sources. Check here the paper!

New paper alert! 🚨Finally, we publish the research on the nitrogen cycle of a unique Arctic dataset. We have over 13 metagenomes and 7 metatranscriptomes from March until July 2014 from the Dease Strait in the Canadian Arctic. They show how the microbial community changes from winter to summer.
