Having a shared lexicon for sensor data on atproto would be cool. Temp, air quality, etc. Public real time easy access to geolocated info

Day 1 of grayscale phone is pretty nice. My concern is if it can maintain its effectiveness unlike most other interventions

Are you planning to use permissioned data for paid content?

Explaining means testing to an American: imagine an expensive burger

One downside to For You is that it promotes quote posting (anti social, dog piling), since replies are never shown

I wonder if there could be some privacy improvements here, like not sending a cookie on that specific request.

K-anonymity also seems like a decent path. www.troyhunt.com/understandin...

I guess this is necessary for it to work, but the @margin.at extension sends a request for every URL you visit 😔

Thanks for chatting!

Indeed, that's my point. That's why copyright for recipes is a tricky question, legally and ethically.

It fits on a scale in between triangle and novel, in my example.

I lean one way, you lean the other, I think this is an argument over where to draw the line rather than something fundamental. Tricky stuff!

Hopefully we can both agree that simple uncreative concepts like "a triangle" shouldn't be copyrighted or owned by anyone, while complex creative works like a novel should be.

Recipes are tricky because they span the gap, from instant ramen to soufflé.

If I legally obtain something that has no owner, without depriving anyone of that thing, how is that "to take".

The concept of theft is already dubious for digital files, but to extend it to uncopyrightable works like recipes seems unfortunate. Copyright law is already so expansive, why extend it?

What does it mean to steal a recipe, given they are not tangible or copyrightable?

Could you say more about the Toronto events? I'm working on this for @atproto.to

If anyone believes their project should run as public infrastructure - come talk to us.

If you believe that running components as public infrastructure is beneficial to the ecosystem and you have institutional funds available - come talk to us.

What's the easiest way to run a local PDS that keeps the data private?

3 days ago 3 0 2 0

This is a great feature, now I can use it for other in person meetups

4 days ago 3 0 0 0

The one thing I don't like about atproto: I have to get better at front end development because that's what it incentivizes -- front end apps with PDS for storage, rather than server-side templating

Interesting, got any links on this for PDQ specifically? I think unfortunately secret padding is not applicable for our use case because we are ingesting records with hashes not generated by us.

Could you add @atproto.to?

4 days ago 2 0 0 0

@flo-bit.dev having fun with Blento, but it seems deleting a card doesn't delete the record, and then that card shows up multiple times in the frontend? Am I missing something here?

Yes! Thanks. I've actually used your site as an example internally of what the API could be used for :)

Yep! To clarify, no images are stored on disk (at any point, actually), and post deletions are respected in API output.

The Marshmallow Test - Bluesky signals it's willing to eat its young At AtmosphereConf, Bluesky celebrated its community, then signaled it's willing to eat them alive. No context. No acknowledgment. I was in the room.

Finally done. I was able to talk with @pfrazee.com, as well as a handful of other folks with insight on the situation.
