Hulk Hogan may be gone, but he lives on in every old white guy who addresses another old white guy he's known for three seconds as "Brother."
ok but who was like "one of the spice girls needs to be scary"?
I'm back in Madison, WI after living in Chicago for five weeks, which means I'm going to begin every sentence with "Well, when you've lived in the city for as long as I have,"
Very excited for the inevitable email from my bank rebranding their high yield savings account as a yield savings account.
I will never not find it hilarious that they chose Jean Claude Van Damme as the All American Hero πππ
Good to know! I'd honestly love to give it a rewatch. It has very "bad in a good way" vibes. I secretly hope for the same for Zelda.
A movie poster from the 1993 live action Super Mario Bros. movie
Before you go and get super excited about the live-action Zelda movie, please remember...

Omg. Only two sessions into #theIIJ conference for independent journalists and I already have 5 full pages of notes!
I'm so excited for today's kickoff for "Beyond Surviving", the @indiejournalists.bsky.social 2025 conference. Connecting with other journalists has been so great for my mental health lately - exacty what I've needed in the current political landscape.
Who else is attending?

America is trying to force a new beef between Kendrick Lamar and Eddie Vedder.
How I feel laughing at all the "Who's #KendrickLamar?" posts.
Just received an automated message that inspired me to update my out-of-office email game.
It said the writer is out of town, but "in the meantime, check out Wikipedia's list of uprisings led by women, list of inventors killed by their own inventions, or their list of lists of lists."
Lol isn't the Internet beautiful???
I'm looking for credible ways to help rebuild Gaza. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. I'm wary of phony GoFundMe pages, etc. where my money will just go to some guy in Minnesota or something.

The modern Republican ethos feels like someone read "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" and took it as fact.
"If you give a worker a raise, they're going to ask for PTO..."
VIDEO GAME NEWS STORY: "For simplicity, we are referring to Nintendo's next console as the Switch 2, but it will almost definitely not be called the Switch 2. That is not creative nor is it Nintendo's style."
NINTENDO: "Behold our new console. It is called the Switch 2."
It is exhausting and dehumanizing to watch everyday as rich and (therefore) powerful people make objectively and intentionally bad decisions that impact us all and see zero repercussions for those actions.
These people really do believe they are entitled to our acquiescence.
"Hello, it's nice to see you. How was your holiday? What is my job again?"
I just received the most embarrassing phone call of my life.
A real life person from the library had to call to tell me I returned one of the Twilight movie cases without the disc inside.
Excuse me. Just going to walk into the ocean now.
Fuck it. This year I'm signing off every professional email with "Love always,"
This morning I said 9/11 was 10 years ago and that is the correct amount of years.
So excited that I get to celebrate @theopennotebook.bsky.social's second edition of "The Craft of Science Writing" with @siricarpenter.bsky.social and @kellyperil.bsky.social! Congratulations to you both and all your contributors!
Thank you! It was such a fun evening!
For those just getting to know me, I perform stand-up comedy in addition to doing science writing.
Last night I accomplished a major goal and got to perform at The Second City in Chicago.
There's a lot of bullshit going on right now, but this was a major bright spot in my life.
I met Laura as a grad student at UW-Madison in 2019. Even before then, I couldn't go to any #scicomm event without somebody mentioning her name. She's an absolute powerhouse and I consider myself so privileged to ever have gotten to learn from her - including this past weekend at #SciWri24.

Yes! I'm been saying all weekend that the timing could not have been better.
I'm constantly so enamored with the openness, helpfulness, and support of this great community :)
Overheard on the plane: "I'm absolutely done with Dallas. Just last week, I saw someone get run over by a truck and the driver took it. I thought 'Jesus criminy, people!'"
Seems like a less than appropriate response frankly.
