Thanks! The hospital crafters haven't told me specifics but my guess is it is the tactility (the arms/tentacles) and the cuteness of them that really appeal to the children. I think their shape also makes them very kid-friendly and easy to hold compared to other stuffed animal shapes.

43 items donated to a local hospital. The crafters group there told me how impactful the squids are for the pediatric patients. So there are a lot of squids in this donation set. This brings my lifetime total of donated handmade items to 793. #knitsky #knitting #crochet
GLENARDEN is live on #Ravelry! It features yarn from @thefiberists.bsky.social (Collins Worsted [grey hat] and Newton Worsted [blue hat in previous post]). I've been working on this pattern for the better part of two years. So glad it is finally released! #knitsky #knitting #knittingpattern
The first image is of Brussels sprouts (front) and onions (back). The second image is zucchini. The third image is the zucchini's roots. It is difficult to see in the last image, but the roots are stretching all the way to the bottom. My hand for scale. #vegetablegarden
Garden update. My dad and I started our vegetable garden seeds using the seed snail method. It isn't common in the US yet. It is much more popular in Europe. This is what the seedlings look like just 2 weeks after sowing. #garden #seedsnail #gardensky
Glenarden is still coming out on Sunday. But I realized I never posted about a #freepattern I released about 2 weeks ago. "Simple Scrap Ribbed Beanie" is a free simple ribbed hat pattern that uses scrap worsted weight yarn. Find it on #Ravelry! #knitting #knitsky
New pattern release! This Sunday! This is GLENARDEN. It features yarn from The Fiberists. I've been working on some form of this pattern for the better part of two years. I'm finally satisfied with it. Can't wait for it to finally be out! #knitsky #knitting #knittingpattern
It's only been 6 hours since the second dose of the shingles vaccine and already starting to not feel well. Completely expected given how dose 1 went. But annoying nonetheless.
Just realized I misspelled "knitting" in my last post. Too late to fix it. Oh well.
The other yarn is Cascade Yarns Cherub Aran, 100% acrylic but surprisingly very soft.
I used a very lovely mostly alpaca/merino blend from a farm, called Greenfield Acres Farm in Tuscarora, MD (picture 2). The Artisan Special "Caroline/Ferrari" Worsted/Light Bulky yarn is exquisite. And yes, the yarn came from the fleeces of two alpacas named Caroline and Ferrari.
Surprise pattern drop! This is TUSCARORA Hat. The hat features wide, 2-cable-needles cables with a running single small honeycomb down the center. Find the pattern on Ravelry, LoveCrafts, Ko-fi, and Etsy! #knitsky #kitting
One of my patterns was featured at the #VogueKnittingLive #crochet fashion show this weekend. Ottellea, my crocheted asymmetrical scarf. I'm so honored to have been chosen! Pattern available on Ravelry. #knitsky

True animation. No AI. A Christmas commercial. I want a movie like this.
Got my first Shingrex vaccine yesterday. My arm hurts worse than a Covid vaccine. Feeling slightly feverish. Good thing Iโm not cooking, just reheating, today. #thanksgiving
I'm really going to need Abed to catch the die he threw. I'm so done with this darkest timeline.
Went to the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Fest today. Iโm not comfortable filming vendor booths, so animals instead ๐ฐ๐ฆ๐ And my haul at the end. #knitsky #yarn

Latest harvest from my garden. This is a gallon-size ziploc's worth. They will be going to my dad who is attempting to figure out my grandmother's old canning catsup recipe (she was my mom's mom and we can't find her recipe but my dad remembers really liking it decades ago when he last had it).
