It's on the fire ant hill around the base of one of my Burr Oak saplings. I have 13 left, out of 25 planted. That's not bad!

One of my Caracaras. The dad. Mom is on the nest, so he comes to get hotdogs for her.
First bud on my Fragrant Cloud rose!
My son recommended this to me! He thought I would enjoy it, but I'm having a little trouble getting "in" to it. It may just be the narrator. Sometimes it takes a while to get used to the person's voice. This man sounds similar to Jim Dale, who I enjoy listening to.
This is interesting!

Rumina decollata snails - highly invasive. They're everywhere! Been around for "several decades," generally, but I've been aware of them for about three, maybe four years, when suddenly they were everywhere here. These are all over a dead fire ant hill for some reason. Wonder why.
I love it!
I freak out, too, at the slightest whiff. We had a wildfire come right up to us about 20 years ago. Burned wooden fences, my greenhouse, fruit trees...but didn't come to the house. Got about ten feet from the barn. Still makes me ill to think about it.
I've done the trip laundry, and disinfected my suitcase wheels and my phone. I've done chores and cleaned out the nesting boxes. I've snuggled Shadow and the cats. What have I forgotten?
I'm about ready for a nap!
This was not all of the eggs! There were 71 total! There could've been a possible total of 90, but not every hen lays an egg every day. There were about 6 broken eggs, which i know they ate, and then of course the rat snake/s could've had some...
It's been raining heavily so they're quite muddy.
It's raining, of course.
Bringing Shadow home from camp!

When I get a comment from someone, I often can't figure out which of my posts they're commenting on. It's just in a list of likes and comments, not tacked on to my post.
Oh wait - were you talking about the owlet?
But Athena has already abandoned her nest, so it's in wildlife rehab. C'mon little hooty, you got this!!!
