After our 5th anniversary AGM we wish #ChagSameach to our friends celebrating the first night of Passover. Our trustees span Harrow’s rich diversity with Christian, Sikh, Hindu and Jewish backgrounds; our wonderful Muslim trustee has just stood down. Welcome to @benwealthy.bsky.social our new Chair!

Really great to see pollution and danger removed from Oxford Street. Looking forward to access for people arriving on bikes and adapted cycles, especially disabled and elderly cyclists who may not be able to walk long distances. Hope good cycle access and parking are planned in from the beginning.

Actually no, there is a bend, so people don’t drive through much. The cracks and potholes were the main barriers to enjoyment. Building a cycle lane on the direct route, as per LTN1/20, would of course save time (this one takes 40% longer) but some authorities make more progress than others.

On the plus side, this road is meant to be part of a back-streets ‘cycle route’ over which cyclists have been bumping for at least a decade. We are actually quite grateful. Baby steps.

Many children tell us they want to walk or cycle to school but they are currently deprived of that choice because they don’t feel safe.

This week in Westminster, I led a debate on how we can make our streets safer and give children the freedom to travel actively to school.

We learned from meeting stroke survivors after their 12-week rehab programme. Cycling, two-wheeler or with adapted cycles can be really beneficial. Here’s our volunteer Kevin coaching a survivor. Looking forward to offering a taster session soon, maybe a scheme. #nhs #harrow @lwhcharity.bsky.social

Thanks so much to Liz Sheridan, here with volunteer Darren, donating to us the trike which was used by her mother till the age of 99! Who says older people can't cycle? This will be much-appreciated by people using our #wheelsforall service. #inclusion #disability #beyondthebicycle #olderpeoplerock

Thanks @cyclinguk.bsky.social for bringing women’s needs to the fore. If women cycle, everyone cycles. It’s not just traffic engineers who are mostly male - elected council portfolio holders who manage roads, likewise.

This is fascinating - well worth watching. We certainly see motonormativity in #Harrow!

Such a great scheme. One of the key barriers to using adapted cycles is cost. Hope people in #Harrow will be able to take it up too. @communityconnex.bsky.social
