For patients 3 years of age or older, the September 5 New York State Executive Order: 1. Allows pharmacists to prescribe and order COVID-19 vaccines. 2. Authorizes pharmacists to administer vaccines. 3. Allows physicians and nurse practitioners to either prescribe or give general orders for pharmacies to administer COVID-19 vaccines. NYS Health Commissioner James McDonald is issuing a standing order for the COVID-19 vaccine that will help ensure sustained access to the vaccine for all New Yorkers.
