Latest poll puts Greens just two points behind Labour. When I said we weren't here to be disappointed in Labour but to replace them, I meant it.

Trump ends annual report on U.S. hunger amid rising food insecurity The Trump administration is ending a decades-long report on U.S. hunger, calling it “politicized.” Last year, the USDA report warned of rising food insecurity.

You don't see what you don't look for.

Stops collecting data on climate change as it worsens.
Stops reporting economic data as the economy weakens.

AI is inherently ageist. That’s not just unethical – it can be costly for workers and businesses The ‘grey digital divide’ is artificial – created because designers of tech products are overwhelmingly young.

I agree.
It is so rude and can be really grating.
Lots of people on #Edinburgh buses forgetting that you don't have to be on speaker for a call.
Also playing video clips with sound on.
Easily solved with headphones 🎧

Dammit. Someone nicked our cute lil yellow Yoonit. A mini cargo bike.

Share around, and keep an eye out around Edinburgh. Shout at @cargobikemovement.bsky.social if you see it. Let's make this thing too hot to handle.

Bike theft is the worst. Bike theft from a CHARITY is something else 😤

Another thing that struck me about yesterday’s Oval Office disaster is the place of language.

Excerpt from a public letter Roald Dahl wrote encouraging people to vaccinate their children.

Olivia, my eldest daughter, caught measles when she was seven years old. As the illness took its usual course I can remember reading to her often in bed and not feeling particularly alarmed about it. Then one morning, when she was well on the road to recovery, I was sitting on her bed showing her how to fashion little animals out of coloured pipe-cleaners, and when it came to her turn to make one herself, I noticed that her fingers and her mind were not working together and she couldn’t do anything.

“Are you feeling all right?” I asked her.

“I feel all sleepy,” she said.

In an hour, she was unconscious. In twelve hours she was dead.

The measles had turned into a terrible thing called measles encephalitis and there was nothing the doctors could do to save her. That was twenty-four years ago in 1962, but even now, if a child with measles happens to develop the same deadly reaction from measles as Olivia did, there would still be nothing the doctors could do to help her.

On the other hand, there is today something that parents can do to make sure that this sort of tragedy does not happen to a child of theirs. They can insist that their child is immunized against measles. I was unable to do that for Olivia in 1962 because in those days a reliable measles vaccine had not been discovered. Today a good and safe vaccine is available to every family and all you have to do is to ask your doctor to administer it.

The measles outbreak in Texas is reminding me of the public letter Roald Dahl wrote about losing his daughter to measles in 1962, just before the vaccine was publicly available.

Le Monde, "French MPs vote through the left's wealth tax on the ultra-rich"

Your reminder that a 2% wealth tax on those with £10 million, affecting 0.04% of the UK population, would raise £24 billion a year

You have to wonder why Labour chose not to do this..

Heard from THREE business owners this morning that these clickbait exaggerated weather reports are affecting business. One said she lost a block-booking worth £2,000 over snow that didn’t happen.
They’re telling me it’s harming local businesses so I’ll continue calling it out.

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

Humanity has a choice.

Fascism or resistance.

Oligarch, tech bros and politicians are choosing fascism.

We need to stand together, organise and resist.

"So this is how liberty dies… " Making sense of Trump's first three weeks Where I categorise 69 Trump administration actions from the last 3 weeks and show how they align with the authoritarian playbook

Absolutely chilling post by @chrischirp.bsky.social setting out how T rump is aggressively mobilising a classic authoritarian playbook. I did not think I would see the death of American democracy (and American science) in my lifetime. #academicsky
