I made a little browser game for testing your knowledge of the Federal Rules of Evidence § 609. 609.youngren.io
I am always open to questions, comments or suggestions. I'm also hoping to make more of these, so I'm open to thoughts about good next subjects as well.

It is true that this means that system-wide numbers will be doubled over those who are counting total "trips," but the purpose of the site is to gain insight into how the stations are being used, as they tend to be the locus of conversation when it comes to the use of our urban space.
Personally, I believe that a station provides value on every arrival as well as every departure, and so that is why I have made the decision to include both types of use in the topline numbers as well as the charts.
I personally believe that this will undermine the view that I'm "double counting," since it directly raises the question "then which half would you discount?" And allows the user to do so, if they think that's a more accurate view of the usage of the station.
I have gotten some push back on my decision to count every use towards the total as opposed to every trip. While it's certainly true that I have a bias towards bikeshare, I am dedicated to honesty and transparency in this data. So I now support viewing departure and arrival data separately.
citibikedata.nyc, my website dedicated to democratizing access to Citi bike data, will now allow you to optionally split the bar chart by bike type, direction (arrival vs. departure), both, or neither.

unfortunately, there's no demographic data in there. :( the best we could do would be inferring how many bikes are in use at the time.
yes this is json data. and you hit the nail on the head! my desire is to democratize it! but that means designing a user interface that is maximally helpful and presents data in ways that are actually useful, which is why i'm hoping to get people's input. to direct that process!
Sorry, not sure why the link clipped: gbfs.citibikenyc.com/gbfs/2.3/gbf...
Thanks for your input!
