A group of occupational therapy colleagues standing together indoors with Gary during a visit to Cambridgeshire, where he met teams to learn about their work and impact.
Gary’s first month reflections: what you’ve told him so far 👋
Over 100 members met, visits across the UK, and lots of honest conversations. Gary’s shared what he’s hearing from OTs and how your insights are shaping his next steps.

Details of my upcoming online workshops on cognition. To date, these have been for professionals working with people after stroke, but a new half day workshop has been added for professionals from other fields to increase their awareness of cognition.

Special message, signed John F Kennedy, from the opening of the World Congress in Philadelphia 'the tremendous power of occupational therapy in rebuilding the shattered hopes of sick and disabled people is well known'
It all begins today 09.02.2026
Opening ceremony #WFOT2026 in Bangkok
#OTHistory: can't resist sharing JFK's welcome message to 1,100 delegates in Philadelphia at the 3rd Congress in 1962. Let's make the profession even stronger!
Interesting thoughts from Elspeth Froude at #WFOT2026 - goal setting should come before assessment in OT process so that assessment and evaluation focus on occupational participation
Also a scary stat -research takes 17 yrs to get into practice-how can we as OT's support knowledge translation?
Kylie Shae from the world health organisation #WFOT2026 tells us 2.5 billion people currently need adaptive equipment or assistive tech yet only 1 billion currently have it. Occupational therapists key to bridging that gap worldwide.

Thank you @rcotpolicyscot.bsky.social for giving me a copy at the meeting today. Great to see the 6 steps mentioning primary care (mental health OT could have such an impact), advanced practice (impact from leading QI and research could be significant) and workforce planning tool
It was such a treat!
2/2 Thanks to Charlie, Nick & Elaine and the 30+ OTs who joined raising great questions. We didn’t get to answer all but will and post a summary of all on our web page. The seminar was a great opportunity to engage with our fab community.

1/2 The lunch time @elizabethcasson.bsky.social seminar has been one of the most enjoyable and insightful things I’ve been part of in recent times. Hearing Charlie, Nick and Elaine reflecting on their lectures and offer up their thoughts about the impact created was inspiring.
Looking forward to lots of OTs joining this session with 3 past Elizabeth Casson Memorial Lecturers next wk on 3/2 at 1pm Join us for an exciting conversation as they reflect on their lectures then and now & join with you in a conversation about OT. Post below has details 👇🏻
I was delighted to be asked to be a part of this @elizabethcasson.bsky.social session, especially alongside such fantastic company. We will be reflecting on our respective lectures and discussing our thoughts on their impact and how the themes of lectures can continue to be applied.
