Sometimes the biggest lesson is to be prepared. I'm glad I got the shot but missed getting a sharp image because my shutter was too slow. Still happy to photograph the American Bald Eagle in flight. I have to go back and try again.

Ilford HP5 Plus 400 film is the standard B&W film I used in college. I started a roll and took two years to finish, and this was one of the more recent images.

Been a while since I last posted. Life can be hard sometimes. Recently decided to explore Film Photography again. The world of Color Negative film is a really fascinating medium to explore. I'm sad I missed the nuance back in college.

Long time no post. Events in life can sometimes be hectic. But it's nice to get a reminder of the good things.

Here is a picture of a Pileated Woodpecker. I knew he was around, but he finally made an appearance where I was able to get his picture.

It's been a while since I've been able to get photos, but I do have a lot of shots still to share. This time a Downy woodpecker.

A snowy morning looking for shorebirds. I heard a unique bird in the distance and took his picture. Didn't realize he had a fish.

Looking back through my catalog of images since I started Wandering Crane Photography, I found images I took that I have forgotten. They serve to inspire and show me how far I have come.

This is in Kenya during my first trip there, and the place Wandering Crane was born.

At a distance it's easy for me to mistake this Nuthatch as a Chickadee, but when you see the way he moves it quickly becomes clear. Each bird I try to nickname. My Nuthatches are now dubbed Peter Quill. Because his beak looks like the quill of a pen

Another addition to my backyard visitors. This guy is a regular visitor to my feeders. I caught him enjoying a sunflower seed on a cold afternoon.

Thank you. When I started, all my birding was at a destination. Now that I own my own property it has provided me the chance to bring them to me.

When life doesn't allow you to travel, just look in your own backyard. Sometimes I am surprised by what I see.

I have received more birds in my backyard since refilling the feeders. Here are two of the visitors I had. Yellow-bellied Sap Sucker and Bluejay

There is something magical when you capture even the most common birds as the snow falls.

I captured this American Robin, when I visited Moraine Park in the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

I want to go back. It's been a while since I was there.

A good way for me to differentiate it is the beak. The beak on an Indigo Bunting is short and conical in shape and can have a mix of colors. The Mountain Bluebird has a thin, straight bill that is entirely black in color.

Indigo Buntings have different beaks that are short and conical. Very different from the mountain Bluebird that has a thin, straight bill.
