Normal Tuesday. Got a few meetings today but not too many. President's threatening to genocide millions of people and there are folks flying around the moon in the fucking sky. Gotta take out the garbage later

Do you like building novel optical microscopes to answer complex biological questions? How about doing that as part of one of the world’s most unique and vibrant research and education communities, which is incidentally located in a beautiful seaside New England village? 🐙🌊🔬
mStayRose is published in JBC 🥳🎉
Congratulations @wsctt.bsky.social @sporemohan.bsky.social and team for the monumental effort to make a non-natural amino acid incorporating fluorescent protein accessible. It's based on mStayGold, bright, and photostable:

A flyer for the Bioimage Analysis Beginnings Bootcamp - blue and white with a picture of cells on the top. It says "Learn core bioimage analysis skills using open-source tools for light microscopy. Open to participants at all skill levels." It also says it will be held a the Broad Institute, 415 Main Street, Cambridge MA USA, on Monday to Friday January 12th-16, 2026, from 9-5pm. Registration is $750 academic, $1250 industry, and applications are open at broad.io/BAB3
Big news! Our week-long #bioimageanalysis bootcamp is BACK! Learn how to think about bioimage analysis like the pros do, learn what corrections you should (and shouldn't!) apply to your images, learn open source tools, and more. Apply NOW at broad.io/BAB3 for our January 2026 course!
Everyone who does quantitative microscopy should read this! It’s amazing how many ways we can bias our imaging experiments without realizing we’re doing it.

Me except I do this on a normal workday, when I just saw my cat 4 hours ago and will see him again in another 4 hours.
I still can’t believe that all NIH grants to my colleagues at Harvard and Harvard Medical School have been nullified. And that, as a nation, we’re somehow okay with this illegal, arbitrary, and petty act. Just think of the consequences: scientists, students, and patients will all suffer.
"The money the government sends to Harvard is, in effect, not a subsidy to advance the university’s mission. It’s a payment for the role Harvard plays in advancing the research mission of the United States." www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
Whoa, the mCherry signal on that microorganism is fantastic! 😂
I'm a current Harvard graduate student and I found out today that I had my NSF GRFP terminated without notification. I was awarded this individual research fellowship before even choosing Harvard as my graduate school
