Labour drops plans to restrict LTNs in ‘secret war on motorists’ Ministers quiety ditch reforms that would have constrained local councils’ powers

Is reducing road danger a ‘war on motorists’?
LTNs cut injuries by 35% in London.
Most VRU deaths involve cars, not bikes or pedestrians.
Evidence matters.

Dear Britain, it’s now clear: 20mph zones save lives and don’t slow traffic. Implement them | Sadiq Khan There is too much bluff and bluster on this subject. Ordinary people just want safe streets for themselves and those they love, and we can achieve that, says London mayor Sadiq Khan

🚸 New TfL data: 20 mph limits cut deaths/serious injuries by 34%, incl. 75% drop in child fatalities. Wales saw ~100 fewer KSI in year one. Evidence is clear—lower speeds save lives. Govt strategy must act. #RoadSafety #20mph #SafeStreets #VisionZero www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
