Ok... Well, I guess leaving late for vacation is better than no vacation?
I will never not be annoyed by performative BS. Take professional development goals.
Hours wasted setting "ideal" goals, using the right language, etc. only to dump them in a document where they will sit for a year until the process repeats.
Because they won't ever be a priority any other time.
Normally, I wouldn't jump to that question, but under the circumstances, I think it's valid.
After all, what better way to set that precedent than with a question that would have the least opposition?
Question: will she use this as precedent to ignore the separation referendum results?

Decorative title slide with a vintage, sepia-toned aesthetic. An ornate gold frame surrounds the text โWhy the MAPLE Lab Should Enter Its Villain Era,โ set over a blurred background of an open book and papers. The typography is stylized and slightly gothic, with decorative flourishes above and below the title, giving a dramatic, old-world, storybook feel.
We're having a fun slide day to celebrate the thesis students.
I am proposing we enter our villain era. Reasons include:
- secret lair
- dramatic monologues
- Elaborate names
- a button that does nothing
- evil cackling
I have this one in the bag.
Today the documentary The Eastern Slopes premiered at the Lethbridge International Film Festival. It is a must see! Itโs on You Tube now. The Lethbridge Raging Grannies were featured in the film singing our Coal Mining Song. We made the Red Carpet!

A large outdoor structure made from stacked scrap materials, including rusted metal, wire fencing, wooden branches, bicycle parts, and assorted debris. Items are layered and tied together, forming a dense, irregular mound. Some pieces are painted or marked, including sections with red paint. The structure is surrounded by leafless trees under a clear blue sky, with dry ground and a dirt path in the foreground.
It goes by many names.
The Thing in the Coulees, The Rust Rock Cathedral, The Witch Hut and Garbage Castle.
For the past 12 years, it has been an unsanctioned art installation in the Lethbridge River Valley. To this day, the creator is unknown.
This is the story.

The sheer number of men "well, actually...", bringing up female rapists, and otherwise downplaying and explaining this away is so gross. It is nice that they out themselves so openly, though.
Pretty tough to give him hell for that ๐
- confidence in the decision - confidence in the bot (have they interacted with that bot on that topic before with good results)
- importance of the product (is the product related to their identity? Is it something they value like a hobby or collection?)
Etc. etc.
Whether we try another brand or not depends on a ton of factors:
- risk
- expertise/experience in an area
- their trusted social circles (if my cousin Jim Bob, an avid car enthusiast, recommends ChatGPT, I might not care. But if he recommends Castor Oil products, I would)
- amount of info gathered
Just a reminder that what consumers say they'll do and their actual behaviour doesn't always match.
"When an AI chatbot recommends a different brand, nearly half of active users say they'll try it."
Now, will *advertising* in the AI Chatbots will be seen as a recommendation? ๐ค

I'm technically "on vacation" but it's not really vacation because I have meetings and grades to submit, etc. all the prep work so I can actually leave ๐
It feels like that. I don't actually leave for my vacation until next week.
It's pre-vacay hell. I want to see Manitoba so badly ๐
I am very firmly in the "I don't want to be here, and I don't want to do this" stage of my vacation.
5 days to go.
Oh look.
At a time when people are struggling to put food on the table and countries are warning they'll run out of jet fuel in 6 weeks.
The fact that not one person involved in this purchase said "maybe now isn't a good time for this purchase" tells you everything you need to know.
A major stroke left a pianist with a right-sided paralysis that could have ended his music career. But, inspired by his mentor, he's made a comeback as a professional left-hand-only pianist.
