It was certainly an interesting one. A rare one that I've read *and* yall (apparently) carry. :)

This book - Nobody by Creston Mapes - is both excellent and built around a poem that describes me *perfectly* - "I Stand At The Door" by Sam Shoemaker.
It is also free for the next couple of days... :D

I once read the first three Left Behind books - 1200 pages or so - inside 48 hrs, years before Kindles existed. I haven't been able to repeat that particular feat since, nearly two decades later. :D
And yes, to this day I remember the high points of the plots. :D
well... you're partially right...
I don't think the actual number of books read by the average American will shock too many.
More shocking may be which generation reads the most, both in general *and in dead tree ("print") edition books*...

If anyone has a copy of Shy Girl by Mia Bullard that I can obtain legitimately (particularly an eBook copy), I'd love to read it personally.
I have a history of reading the books everyone piles on & rendering my own objective (ish) opinion independent of the thinking of others.

And btw... maybe even quiz yourself to see if you can even reliably detect AI writing to begin with...

TL;DR: Don't fear AI.
Fear stagnation.
Fear never leaving your rut - and dying in it, never having seen the larger, far more beautiful, world outside it.

Sunrise. Easter Sunday. Experience it like you've never experienced it before after you read this book. The singular best book I've ever read to make the Gospels, & particularly Holy Week and *especially* Easter Weekend come alive for "modern" (20 yrs ago) audiences like never before. #BookSky πππͺβοΈ

A month ago, the New York Times published a quiz asking whether you could actually detect AI writing rather than human, but it was biased toward literary fiction.
Tonight, I released my own quiz featuring far more genre representation. #BookSky ππ
16 books in March brings me to 41 on the yr -w/ 49 ARCs currently outstanding.
Best of March is @jrobinsonauthor.bsky.social's Settle Down. David Allan Coe claimed "She Never Even Called Me By My Name" was the "perfect country & western song", Settle Down may be the perfect novel. #BookSky ππ

Conversly, posts explicitly asking for recommendations and your book fits? Unless they specifically say no self-recs, hey, shoot your shot.
The #BookSky ππcommunity here is great generally. There will be a lot of places to mention your book.
Reviews of other books are almost never those places.
I've hidden your comment, but since you're apparently new, I'm going to educate you rather than block you.
Advertising your book on an unrelated post isn't cool.
IF the post is "I loved this book *& I'm looking for more like it*, THAT is when this is ok. MAYBE.
Not on review posts generally.
"In some ways, it may in fact be the perfect novel - in the vein of David Allan Coeβs You Never Even Called Me By My Name proclaimed itself the βperfect country and western songβ."

No idea at all why NetGalley's March 2026 Member Bulletin is making me remember this meme all too well...
Y'all, I *actively* disengaged from politics and ran to booklandia and #BookSky ππ to get *AWAY* from the bullshit...
#ProjectHailMary in #screenx -our 1st time seeing a movie in this format!
Also #ProjectHailEvan -see Kerry Lonsdale's posts about her son Evan, his love of this book, & his tragic passing just days b4 her 2025 book Falling For You Again released.
Go read both books if you havent yet!

They're going to be upfront about this. AI gen books. But tailored to your exact tastes, and (likely) available via a social media type feed.
And readers will eat. it. up.
Particularly these readers you're shaming away from Amazon, and particularly if the price point is lower than KU.
Within the next 5 yrs - and *maybe* as soon as before the end of 2027, *someone* is going to come up with a KU type service...
... that is *completely* AI generated books.
