Group of people gathered at a beach, with mountains in the background, watching a colorful sunset

As a species, we have a checkered history. Mistakes to heal, so much to learn. But on this Advent Eve, with dozens of neighbors and visitors gathering in the pure joy of watching a sunset's beauty, I find my soul bubbling over with hope.

There's a lot to be said for us human beings, there truly is.

I am bowled over by the voluminosity of grace I've been afforded by living where there are Bushtits.

Why we aren't fluent in crow when we've heard them talking around us our entire lives is a mystery to me.

Huddled around a circle of light in a vast darkness, tending the fire through the long night. Ancient potsherds underfoot, a river carving thru geologic time—all a reminder that this moment is just a breath of the earth. That the darkness will pass, & our job is to build our small fires & tend them

Scientists discover world’s largest coral—so big it can be seen from space Exclusive photos reveal a sprawling, 300-year-old coral near Solomon Islands, recently discovered by the National Geographic Society’s Pristine Seas expedition team.

Good news for once!

We’ve found a 300-year-old coral that’s so big it’s visible from space. It’s now considered the world’s largest. Best of all: it’s not yet harmed by climate change & global warming.

It’s being called a beacon of hope. Let it also be a call to action! #DoSomething 🧵
