A graph showing the rise in citations for our 2023 motonormativity paper, up to 101 in total today
Given the considerable lags in the academic publishing process, I'm surprised and gratified by how rapidly motonormativity is becoming a thing in the literature
To miss this opportunity to remove a sub standard junction when all these works are undertaken would be reckless
Our road fatality & serious injury (KSI) toll keeps rising in #Ireland. Those charged with implementing the government's road safety strategy 2021-30 are failing us, particularly #ActiveTravel users.
Please share this petition widely & contact your elected reps (on-line tool).

Ironic that Gloucestershire Constabulary accuse cyclists of making up legislation just before they go on to do the same…

Surely their registration plate will determine where they originated from
License plates are of course the answer!!??
If roads are too narrow - alternate and possibly brave decisions are required
Compromising solid design principles undermines any scheme
Couldn’t agree more.
Build a GOOD lane - it’ll get used.
Sadly we repeat (too readily) our ability to install sub standard lanes that frustrate all road users when they’re not used.
The Conyngham/Chapelizod Rd scheme is full of compromise that DCC defend - exceptions need to be rare not routine
So rationale for the bypass is in case a bridge is closed?
The bridge is rarely/never closed.

Yup. The numbers tell a sad tale. In 5 years almost 65,000 pedestrians killed or injured by car drivers compared to 2,000 by ppl cycling.
It's scandalous really that it's so accepted.
Commuters won't consider using a bike for transport if it isn't safe. Build protected bike infrastructure, slow drivers down, remove street parking; make it safe and bike commuters will appear. Paris is an example to the world how political will has achieved a modal shift. #EndCarDependency
Why leave enforcement so long?
A capital city crippled by illegal parking…
Do you own/run a café or a bike shop?
Did you know that 1000s of people rely on the Open Street Map to find facilities like yours?
If YOUR shop isn't on www.openstreetmap.org then I GUARANTEE you're losing out on potential customers!
Go add your business now!

But a failing road, eg one with potholes, may be more susceptible to damage with increasing weight (up to the power of 9)
Us: What are you building?
Them: Congestion.
Some very creative accounting was used to deem the Galway ring road compliant with Ireland's climate plans, writes architect and transport planner Ciarán Ferrie. jrnl.ie/7009217t
“it’s like saying a healthy diet plus smoking is better than doing nothing – and then claiming smoking is good for your health.”
Would Ministers work on policy proposals overnight for climate protesters? Far more important than this oil costs stuff in the medium term but no, no they would not get off their ass for climate.
Seven years today since @hammersmithbridge.bsky.social closed to motor traffic. Many happy returns to all who celebrate

Nothing solves traffic like building more traffic. Induced demand about to hit 200%:
1 Add lanes
2 Congestion briefly vanishes
3 Everyone drives more
4 Congestion returns

Govt: “Not now, I’m busy widening this queue.”
