The degradation of society:
1. Celebrating the k!lling of a CEO
2. Cheering on warehouse arsons
3. Making heroes out of people who attempt political violence
You can be outraged at the system and still not glorify violence. These aren't wins. This is a society losing its moral compass.
[Coming from a liberal btw]

I don’t know how people keep forgetting that workers rights were entirely written in blood and the capital class had to be threatened with violence before they agreed to things like 8 hour working days and 2 day weekends.

Yeah, not gonna buy her book for “both sides”-ing issues where that’s actually dangerous.

lol apparently those cute little japanese emperor butterfly (sasakia) caterpillars that have antlers and a :3 face have such bad breath that they scare away predatory wasps. look they're making them take breathalyzer tests. the results are in: stinky!!

Eastern Tailed-Blue butterfly depositing her eggs on wild Vetch, the host plant for their caterpillars. I have never photographed them laying eggs before today. Exciting. There are dozens of Blues throughout our meadows right now. Obviously, many more to come…

There is massive, massive demand out there for environmentally credible voices creating permission space for people to fully absorb genai into their lives and many big enviro accounts are heeding the call and adopting greenwashing tactics in doing so

A green jay perched on the end of a sweet acacia tree branch, holding a glowing sweet acacia flower in their beak. A blue jay holds onto the branch further down and shows interest in the flower. Both birds are dressed in cloaks and the green jay also wears a breastplate and a hat with a long thin feather in it. They are surrounded by foliage and glowing flowers. This is the color comp I made for this piece- I'm still working on the final image. Made in procreate. Watermark text: Talenshi Studios

WIP for the march #BirdWhisperer green jay!
I wanted to paint a love story about a green jay and blue jay since researchers in Texas recently found a bird that appears to be the offspring of such a pair. Their ranges are beginning to overlap due to climate change.

Oh! Hey! This book I’m on tour for is actually out and available and you can buy it or reserve it at your library BUT ALSO IT IS HORROR AND VERY GROSS so it’s okay if you sit this one out. It’s about botflies! The New York Times called it disgusting!

Common Threads: It Has Pockets! | The Saturday Evening Post Long a marker of gender inequality, women turned pockets into a feminist demand.

Suffragist Elizabeth Cady Stanton lamented the sight of “an educated woman wearing a dress that is destitute of a pocket!” seeing the lack of pockets as a hindrance to women’s progress.

The ideal version of true critical thinking remains vitally important. It has to include the notion of aligning one's credences roughly to expert opinion, precisely when one is not an expert one's self. "Trust" has nothing to do with it, just sensible Bayesian updating.

movements don’t need heroes. history should never be built or taught around great men, or women.

the collective is why change happens—that is what should be celebrated.

Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.

My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

‘I wish I could push ChatGPT off a cliff’: professors scramble to save critical thinking in an age of AI As AI has upended the way students learn, academics worry about the future of the humanities - and society at large

I'm one of many professors quoted in this report from Alice Speri. I really appreciate The Guardian taking an angle which has basically eluded every other major outlet.

Just a reminder: screen readers will say, "Image" before reading out your alt text, word for word. So it's best to:

- Not type "Image/photo of"—unless a medium is important, such as a painting
- Not use the alt text for anything but the image; extra info is confusing
- Bonus: Overly long or short

I propose that in october we permanently shift all clocks back by only 30 minutes & then fucking leave them there forever after. And if you think that's somehow more absurd than the DST/SDT dance, please take a deep breath and remember that clock time is fake & was invented for trains. It'll be fine
