It's always hard to separate the effects of "the world these days" from those of "growing up and being an adult now", but I KNOW there was a time when I didn't feel a hundred psychic papercuts just trying to get through my day.
He NEVER went up his own ass, NEVER.
And for a global superstar out of Hollywood this is a rare rare thing.
From Carpenter to icon.
A credit to my profession.
Love the guy.

I don’t know art, but I know what I like.
I'm someone who was there at the midnight releases of the Harry Potter books and movies.
Watching this show puts money in the pockets of J.K. Rowling. And if you do that, you're helping fund a deadly worldwide campaign of hate against trans people.
Consult your conscience.
Heading out for an aimless wander on a beautiful day, but missing some of my long-time favourite haunts that have closed. What are some of your dearly-missed shops? In YVR, I wish I could go to Perks Pens (oh how I miss that place!), Wanderlust, Stepback vintage, Duthie Books, Beauty Bar...
Yeah, these boneheads somehow have trouble imagining that other people exist. Like, do they get bent out of shape by getting a text saying, "I'm on my way over"? Do they immediately mouthfart, "No, *I'm* fucking not"?
Hi! Our local recycling thingie is on fire again BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP THROWING BATTERIES IN THE GARBAGE.
I would like to request people not be stupid fucking idiots.
Find out who takes batteries near you.
Here in Victoria, many places do, including community centres, London Drugs, etc. #yyj
I loved Spirograph! Saw a new version at an art store and was tempted to revisit my childhood enjoyment of it but didn’t. Should have!
Yes. This thread.
An excerpt from p 414 of A Brief Historical Relation of State Affairs from September 1678 to April 1714, compiled of entries from the diary of Narcissus Luttrell (1657-1732). The excerpt reads: "Foreign letters say, an English lady put her selfe into mens cloaths, and listed her selfe a trooper under mounsieur Catinat; and doeing great service at the seige of Carmanogle, was taken notice of and advanced, and afterwards made gentleman of the horse; but being discovered, notice was given thereof to the French king, who sent for her to St. Germains, and has setled on her a sufficient maintenance for life."
On this Transgender Day of Visibility, I honour not only my own transgender loved ones, friends and readers, but the innumerable transgender people I continue to meet in the course of my historical research, whose lives deserve to be remembered - like this man noted by Narcissus Luttrell in 1692 🏳️⚧️
Trans friends, thank you for being you, and for, when you can, sharing yourselves with a world that is so frequently undeserving of the light you bring to it. I love and support you, always. 🏳️⚧️🫂🫶

About as Canadian as headlines get. 😀
But the very helpful greeter at the castle had wonderful stories of the laird at that time and the garden project he initiated that my great grandfather almost certainly worked on. What a gift!
If your ancestor also worked somewhere you can visit, and you get the chance to go, talk to the guides working there. The estate records for my great grandfather’s time were lost to a fire, so I thought I was out of luck in learning more about him.
My great grandfather was a gardener here. If you’re in the area, it’s a lovely place to visit with a good little cafe.
History is not a settled field. We remain in discussion, debate, and research on every event in the past and are likely to forever remain uncommitted to one singular “true” version of the past.
I have more attachment time-wise than most people ever will to Harry Potter — I was a bookseller when the first book came out.
•We• made it a hit. I loved it so much. Sold it so much.
But I won’t watch a fucking thing if it puts a dime in that hateful bitch’s pocket.
the girl guides in the UK just kicked out all their trans members specifically bc they were threatened with a lawsuit from a rowling-funded group
Thank you! Me too! 💛
I am very lucky to have two days and nights of free time between the two parts of my work trip to Scotland in June. I start the unbooked days in Edinburgh and end in Glasgow, but I'm happy to go much further afield for a couple of days. Now I have to figure out where I want to go... so many options!
i cannot fathom in a million years feeling the need to tell other people a GENRE they like is bad and they are bad for enjoying it what a wild waste of energy and precious heartbeats
