I know what you're thinking. "Did he sprinkle six times or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is from Lourdes, the most powerful holy water in the world, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

We are hoping it lasts at least one more week somewhere near us. This was at about 2,000 feet in the local mountains, just off the interstate, on our drive home from Oakhurst.

I've decided that instead of wasting my own time to see if Grammarly has stolen my name and writing for use their business, I'd just email them to opt out and make them waste some time cleaning up their own goddamn mess.

If reports are confirmed, it appears the US-Israel attack on Iran has already become a regional war, with swift Iranian retaliation against Israel but also against US bases across the GCC.

Worst case scenarios could be playing out. Hopefully not, but this is not looking good.

I assume that when a great architect like Frank Gehry designs a building he anticipates every sightline and every nuance of light. So he probably foresaw me standing there. #photography #selfportrait #disneyhall #losangeles

An early morning view from a bridge over Malibu Creek in Malibu Creek State Park. The creek is full and the water is still, creating reflections of the sycamore trees in the distance that are sidelit by sunlight streaming through a side canyon.

Another scene from Malibu Creek State Park yesterday morning. The variety of moods and the utility of this place as a stand-in for other places (from Korea to The Planet of the Apes) makes this park a great place to photograph sunrise in every season. #photography #landscapephotography #smmnra

This is a view from a bridge overlooking a large calm pool in Malibu Creek. The reflection is clear, with a large sycamore tree on the left, and fog separating it from the red and green-colored hills behind it. The blue of the sky is glowing at the top of the screen, just above the fog.

My dad has come to an arrangement with the public pool in Nottinghamshire where he swims: after everyone else has got out of the pool, he is permitted to do a somersault before he gets changed. “THEY OPEN UP THE STORAGE CUPBOARD AND LET ME GO IN THERE SO I CAN GET A GOOD RUN-UP,” he said. Last week my dad, who will be seventy in August, got his friend Malcolm, who is seventy-three, to film the somersault. “It’s shattered all his illusions,” my mum told me. “Until he saw the film he thought he was creating poetry in motion. But it’s really just an old bloke who can’t run fast doing a sideways flop.”

Ross Douthat @DouthatNYT challenged me to a debate on foreign policy. We recorded a 90-minute segment for his show, Interesting Times, on 1/15/26. But I defeated him so decisively that he refuses to air the footage. What an absolute coward.

Hi
Is the NYT still planning to publish
the interview I did with Ross three weeks ago?
Hey Seth, we've been working through the edit and it's looking like we aren't going to be able to make it work. We were kind of pummeled by the news cycle in the last 6 weeks and are going to pivot away from this story. Thanks for the time you put into it and for your expertise.
Unbelievable cowardice on Ross's part and a giant waste of my time. I'm going to make it known what actually happened: Ross challenged me to a debate on foreign policy, got crushed, and doesn't have the intellectual or journalistic integrity to air the footage.

Five days after we recorded, an editor of mine asked me how it went. I told her that @DouthatNYT was surprisingly unprepared to defend his point of view, and I suspected even then that they would spike it.

It's been more than 2 weeks since I was interviewed for Ross Douthat's show. I murdered him in our debate over foreign policy and was genuinely surprised that he wasn't better prepared to defend his point of view.
Now I'm concerned that he will spike the episode.
Do you have a sense of how far ahead they usually record?
Also I really hope I get to hear this

Ross @DouthatNYT was unprepared to take on a subject matter expert, floundered around, and became irritable and sarcastic towards the end.
But spiking the episode is ten times worse for his journalistic credibility than simply losing a debate, which happens to us all.

Ross @DouthatNYT's producer blames their decision to spike our foreign policy debate on the crazy news cycle. But the last three episodes they've aired have been on Roe v. Wade, Covid-19, and young men's church attendance.

👀 Apparently, Ross Douthat invited Seth Harp to debate him on Douthat's "Interesting Times" NYT podcast. Harp says that the episode was recorded, Douthat got crushed, and RD/NYT decided not to publish it.

This is a photograph of an intimate scene near Abiqui, New Mexico. The frame is divided horizontally into three parts. The top part, about 25% of the frame, is a shelf of red stone, with gray clay-like material resting above it. The shelf sits atop a layer of gray rock that is about 40% of the frame, and looks like a cliff face. The bottom of the frame captures the area below the cliff, and is dotted with white clay and red rocks, like the rocks holding up the shelf. At a point in the shelf, about one-third of the frame from the right edge, there is a weakness through which clay from the upper shelf has poured over the cliff into the bottom. It looks like a frozen waterfall.
