Strong conversations at the AMR Conference in Basel hosted by the BEAM Alliance.
Great to finally meet John Rex, reconnect with Deepali Patel and colleagues from the AMR Action Fund, and hear Dame Sally Davies synthesize insights from across the sessions in her closing remarks.

The way we talk about antimicrobial resistance #AMR could be one of the biggest barriers to action. 💊
If we want to preserve the effectiveness of antimicrobials, we must first ensure people understand what’s at stake. amr-action.au/amr-language/

Widespread #AMR Staphylococcus haemolyticus clones found in premature babies across multiple UK hospitals, likely spread via patient transfers or healthcare staff. The findings highlight the importance of strict infection prevention and control in neonatal care.

My personal project to increase the best of humanity online: Aurora Source. I'll publish several whitepapers and tools for @bsky.app to help users explore the possibility of social media with accountability, integrity, and reliability.

The application of #AI in research and development certainly opens great new possibilities. Including in the #AMR space. This is more than just skimming existing answers and paraphrasing them. Watch this space.

For #IWD International Women's Day I shared a few thoughts on #maleallyship on LinkedIn. I am only starting to be active in this space, but I think it's quite important for all genders. I hope you do too! www.linkedin.com/posts/aarons...
So, we should have free speech and “community notes” when we have concerns but we should sue when clients choose to move to another platform? I’m no tech entrepreneur but I’d think honey is more compelling than vinegar.
In my vision, the platforms could use reliability criteria not just to provide users with guidance on sources but could also build AI fact checker bots that develop real time ratings of posts based on LLMs from reliable sources. It would never be perfect for breaking news but it could help.
The biggest question now is how will this corporation eventually choose to fund this growth? I see an opportunity to lure away advertisers if that’s the model they choose. But is there another way?
I too would like to see a platform with centralized reliability ratings akin to what @newsguard.bsky.social has developed but in the meantime we can make lists that create feeds of only reliable sources. I’ve done that and shared for others. Focus on healthcare but could go broader.
Want to follow the feeds of over 50 reliable medical journals, health news sources and health agencies? Check out my "Aurora Source" Health News list where I have personally verified each source using NewsGuard's reliability rating. I'll keep adding, suggestions welcome!

Overwhelmed by social media and inauthentic interactions? Many are moving to Bluesky for its unique features. To promote open discussions on healthcare policy, I'm sharing a Buffer guide on optimizing capabilities. Tips on personalizing feeds and moderating content are great!
We see you.
WHO is grateful for the love 💙 and messages of support we received.

My second Aurora Source project is a list of 50 scientific journals which have been ranked "High" or "Generally" credible by Newsguard. Feel free to have a look and add to your feed! bsky.app/profile/did:...
I've started a little project called "Aurora Source" to shine a light on reliable news sources. My first effort is this starter pack which includes 6 International Health Agencies for you to follow. go.bsky.app/TghJ95j
