“Geriatricians are walking encyclopedias, in my opinion, as they just do so much. And they’re also really kind, and they have the time to listen and you know, they’re happy to teach you. As a group of doctors, they just acknowledge your existence, so that’s always very nice.” ☺️
“They [geriatricians] took a lot more time thinking over the patients, and they look at the patient as a whole, which is so much more rewarding, because you feel like you’re actually making a difference that’s going to be one that lasts.” 💝

I’ve reached the career stage where my days are spent writing funding applications and barely tolerating unnecessary meetings 🤷🏻♀️ #academiclife #research
We're hosting our first AMRG academic writing day today! We've started the day off with some clear goals, and have a schedule planned of 4 (silent!) working blocks with built in breaks ! We're hoping that the group accountability and dedicated time will pay off in productivity!
Yet, these folks are often excluded from clinical research and health services are too siloed to care for older people comprehensively 😢 Our priorities must include ‘what matters most’ to older people, maintaining generalist skills, and multidisciplinary collaboration 🩵
#Ageing is largely invisible to researchers and policy makers because the experience of ageing varies hugely across the country 🤔 Burden of disease increases with age, and multimorbidity requires a ‘whole person’ approach 👵🏼
