Earlier EPA research found that #PFAS compounds were leaching into pesticides from storage containers. But that’s not why PFAS showed up on CA fruits & vegetables - “It’s there because they were directly sprayed onto our crops & onto our fields.. It’s appalling.”

THINK ANY OF THESE CARE ABOUT MAHA?!? (rhetorical)
When asked expand about efforts to further address #PFAS in our food & water - Kennedy answered to establish maximum contaminant levels. Regs for 6 PFAS mcls are already in place, yet Zeldin actively trying to roll back 4, evidently okay with children drinking toxic crap. Do they even talk?!?! FFS
A federal judge gave the Food and Drug Administration until June 30 to decide whether it will establish limits for the amount of PFAS allowed in foods such as fruits and vegetables.
The NYS Senate passed a bill that would ban the sale of a wide range of household products that contain #PFAS. We need your help to make sure the Assembly & @speakercarlheastie.bsky.social do their part & pass this bill - keep toxic chemicals out of NYS. Sign below:

Make it make sense: "At the same time EPA is weakening enforceable limits for #PFAS in drinking water, Administrator Lee Zeldin is pointing to the addition of those same chemicals to a list for potential future regulation as evidence of progress."

"These findings add to growing evidence that PFAS exposure during early life may carry long-term health consequences, underscoring the importance of efforts to reduce contamination in drinking water and consumer products."

There are NO "safe" levels of toxic #PFAS, as research continues to show. Helluva thing to pass on to future generations, also shown in multiple studies.
Nice. As I said....
I've talked to you prior :)
Have yet to see burning of #PFAS be considered factually 'safe' (except for the company or ACC claims), or obtain total destruction. Another company, BioChar, was denied not long ago for similar. Consider also there are only a couple PFAS regulated for air emissions in NYS.
All too often, things like this rely on individual advocates & non-profit groups. It's exhausting.
Very true. Water-wise, getting there, but soil remediation- ugh. How can you clean an entire community's toxic soil & not just the polluted site? Can't dig the whole town up, but no warnings/discussions on vegetable gardening within the 'zone'?? Have heard this complaint from all over, repeatedly..
If you logged onto social media today and saw that most horrific post, sadly now seared into your brain and made you gasp (y'all know which one), do yourself a favor and watch & listen to something soothing. 'Cuz DAMN - try and unsee it... this does work.

Picture of Thornton-Cleveleys resident, Samantha Linacre-Hanmond, in her garden, where testing by the Environment Agency + UK Health Security Agency has revealed high levels of internationally banned PFOA, a type of PFAS forever chemical classed by the World Health Organisation as a group 1 carcinogen. One of the more insidious aspects of PFAS pollution is the way it can turn what ought to be health-giving activities like growing your own veg into health-harming ones:

Despite our severe contamination here, this issue, to this day, has never been discussed or covered by any investigatory agency. I worked with a lab and did independent testing all around our town, and the officials were having none of it, despite really high levels. Go figure... 😠
Onto NYS Assembly - @speakercarlheastie.bsky.social It's hard to get excited given your track record the last couple yrs, so DO IT for public health!! The science is undeniable, statewide blood testing confirms & you full well know we've all been dosed enough by toxic #PFAS. @leaderasc.bsky.social
