Oh I bet - I have a very select few authors I'll happily buy in hardback and KJC is definitely one
Very, very good. Have recommended it to a few folks who have all really enjoyed it too
And wonderfully narrated too!
How about Rivers of London if they've not read them?
I normally don't do much 20th century history but this one was really interesting and surprisingly engrossing.
I did see KJC was at TNA and was very envious of those who went. New book out in a few weeks too!
Assuming you've already recommended this
Actually if they like history books cannot recommend this enough - loved it!
Depends on what they are interested in - I've just finished quite a serious but interesting 20th century history book on Nazi women, and am also listening to a KJ Charles and a Douglas Adams. My listening is diverse!
Unexpectedly chemo free week so have celebrated with a quiet day of sewing, audiobooks, walk in the sunshine, library visit etc. Just water to drink while I sew and listen. Cheers! #ConfinedCocktails
I'd forgotten about that blog by Jo. Thanks for the reminder - so lovely to see his stuff still being used
Congratulations! And that is, indeed, a fabulous stamp!
The Arrival Of Spring In Woldgate, East Yorkshire, 2011, painting by David Hockney (b.1937).
Coffee with a friend tomorrow before some National Trusting with my mum and sister. Oh and a new fountain pen nib arriving.
Left hand holding a glass of clear liquid. Being a 25% complete embroidery in blues, oranges and greens of stylised flowers.
Evening. Drinking water after a rather good curry while waiting for the apple pie to bake! Having had a lovely week off with family - I have sewn and read books and had retail therapy and rested which has been delightful. Cheers! #ConfinedCocktails
I am doing an event at the National Archives, for crying out loud! The Love Letters exhibition, talking and signing advance copies, courtesy of Notting Hill's Saucy Books!
They are fabulous. And a little bit mad!
I've just realised I'm going to be on holiday when they hit Hexham this year unfortunately! Their shows are always such fun.
Evening. Quite a long week but celebrating being on leave (and the out-of-office being on for the next week) with some sewing and a glass of water. Cheers #ConfinedCocktails
A yellow record card from Battersea Polytechnic, showing information about Susannah Cowell, who undertook a course of practical Laundry Work in 1927. The card shows details such as her education, marital status and the hours she attended (all of them!)
Another call for the hive-mind of Bluesky!
Can any paleography experts identify the occupation of Susannah Cowell, shown here on her student registration card? She was a student at Battersea Polytechnic in 1927, taking a course in Laundry Work.
