Wasn't expecting this while looking for White-letter Hairstreaks this evening. Anyone for White letter purple streaks 🤔 #Butterflies #Hairstreaks

Tried to find a White letter Hairstreak at Aust Services area early this evening. No Joy but did find a surprise Purple Hairstreak. Plenty of other butterflies seen, including several Painted Ladies. Large whites seem to be everywhere at the moment. Also roosting Marbled Whites.

I cannot convince myself either way now. It definitely looked to have a paler mantle than lesser legged, (i get them on my house). Yellow legged can have some head streaking. I guess this bird is neither winter or summer plumage as it was photographed 3rd October. eyes are the same in both

I took this photo back on October 3rd just south of Newpassage on the shoreline & never follow it up. I was doubting myself at the time but now think it is a Yellow legged gull. The light was very bright & harsh so the colour may be lighter or darker in reality. Can anyone confirm either way? #birds
