But you can look forward to the short period when you can wear their hand-me-downs.

I got my youngest son's first dress-up oxfords, and still use his ice skates.

Found this recently in a used copy of Underhill's book. Previously owned by Carol Seaborn, who seems to have been Underhill's former student and later civil servant.

Canada has long recognised the Islamic Republic of Iran as the principal source of instability and terror in the Middle East. The regime has oppressed its people, pursued nuclear capabilities and supported proxy violence across the region. The regime and its proxies have murdered hundreds of Canadian civilians and caused untold suffering for millions of people in the Middle East and beyond.
Despite more than two decades of negotiations and diplomatic efforts, Iran has not dismantled its nuclear program, nor halted its enrichment activities.
Canada condemns the Iranian Regime’s indiscriminate attacks against civilian infrastructure across the Middle East and the surrounding region. These attacks are a dangerous threat to regional stability and civilian safety.
Our government has taken strong action to hold the Iranian regime to account through sanctions, listing the IRGC as a terrorist organization, and coordinated pressure with international partners.
We stand with the Iranian people in their long and courageous struggle against the regime’s oppressive rule. Which is why we support efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security.
Canada is actively engaging with the world as it is, not passively waiting for a world in which we wish to be.
We take this position with regret, because the current conflict is another example of the failure of the international order. Despite decades of United Nations Security Council resolutions, the tireless work of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and a succession of sanctions and diplomatic frameworks, Iran’s nuclear threat remains. And now the United States and Israel have acted without engaging the United Nations or consulting with allies, including Canada.
Canada did not participate in the recent military strikes, and we had no advance notice of them.

reply from Emma Harrison's office (L-Peterborough) on Canada's Iran response concern.

Biggest problem: complete failure to even mention let alone condemn US and Israel for illegal, immoral actions.

This is not "actively engaging with the world as it is."

It's cowardice and dishonour.

Great graphic showing cities on a triangle graph showing if they are most oriented to public transit, active mobility or cars.

Have you seen this? This recent study of mode share (the % share of transportation trips that are by car, transit, walking, biking etc) relative to city size and income levels in almost 800 cities in 61 countries. Interesting results. HT @davidzipper.bsky.social

A friend had it. It was comfy and attractive. Just two things. One was a discolored spot from some old spill. Don't know if waxing/sealing was the issue. Second was small permanent dents from weight of heavy furniture focussed on narrow legs. I don't know if it was a cork quality issue.

You can't invent the lightbulb by improving the candle. You can't create new shit just by reading, regurgitating and rewording old shit. AI would tell you to build an iron lung to treat the symptoms but the human brain discovers penicillin to kill the cause of the symptoms.

People aren't getting it.

Carney plans to spend $1.7 billion on recruiting researchers from the US or who would otherwise go to the US.

Yay, right?

The *entire annual budget* of NSERC is $1.3 billion. And he's cutting that.
