Ignoring all the Alvecote Hooded Merganser twitchy hoo-ha, we put another Barn Owl box up across the river from Mill Pool. Fingers crossed.... #birds #alvecote #ebird

A bit late for this year due to poor weather, but Barn Owl box finally up at Mill Pool, Alvecote. #birds #alvecote #ebird
Can confirm the Alvecote fly over this morning... #recordshot
Tomorrow! #birds
Currently on C4 app. Seems scarily prescient ...
A monumental taxonomy unification effort has just been published - thanks to all those who've collaborated for years to make this happen!

Looks like someone took the opportunity to snaffle a bit of cake on the quiet...
Back of an envelope Partial Solar Eclipse!
Pedant point - Merlin, not eBird!
Couldn't work out No. 1 in GCHQ xmas puzzles (or any others TBH), but think I got this one as "Black Pool Tower"?
Goosander back on the Coventry Canal, Tamworth (Hodge Lane, Amington). Pair catching plenty of small fish. Nice to get close enough to watch for a while. #birds
Yeah, looks like an error in regional boundaries. There are a few in other areas of UK also. Best write up an email and send to eBird help. Will take a while to sort though (they get constant hassle about the contested border between India & Pakistan for example!)
If this an error, can you screenshot where your list is 149?
A stunning/frightening graphic.
Good intro and summary of chirrup.ai

If you know the dates and locations, #eBird Explore on the web is still pretty handy to find the checklists and maybe the individuals. Sometimes they put contact details in their bios.
I think it is too much to ask. So many issues with privacy, and safety, I guess. A lot of backend effort to make it flexible for everyone.
This uses BirdNet engine yes? Would be interested to see how this performs for UK birds Steve.
A bit of mycology today at Alvecote Mill Pool. Candlesnuff Fungus (Xylaria hypoxylon) I think. On woodland floor.
Two fieldworkers sit on a clifftop amongst the grass and wildflowers watching seabirds with a telescope and binoculars. The sun is shining, the sky is blue, the sea is shimmering turquoise, and all is good!

JSYK: The #ebird mobile app is super-efficient for birding checklists in the field. A simple six species list, at an existing location, takes only 34 clicks from start to submission! #ukbirding #conservationtech
There are several taxa like "finch sp.", "pipit sp.", even a "passerine sp.".
You could use the most appropriate one of those for flocks you couldn't identify to species level?
Exactly a year ago, the weather was a wee bit better. Pooley Country Park, Warks.
My 206th #ebird list at Alvecote Mill Pool, N Warks. Storm Bert has raised the water level of Pool and River Anker, so a bit quiet today. Nice to get out though. #ukbirding
