In the afternoon I hosted a constituency surgery, and in the evening, I was out knocking on doors and hearing directly from residents.
This is what recess looks like for me. ๐ก #dayinthelife #mp
Posts by Alex Brewer MP ๐ถ
I started in the office with my team, before heading to the opening of a new day centre for the elderly, where I got to cut the ribbon and chat to the team about how we best support our ageing population.
A day in the life of an MP in the constituency ๐ฌ
I often get asked what I get up to in North East Hampshire when I'm not in Westminster. This day was a good example.
I know how hard our teachers and school staff work to support children. I will continue to advocate for children and families navigating our SEND systems and for education that is inclusive and supportive.
Having spent years running a disability charity and serving as a school governor, I've seen first-hand the challenges that children and families face. I know how exhausted parents are from fighting for appropriate support for their child.
Special Educational Needs is consistently one of the top of the issues in my inbox.
Iโve signed two open letters, one on SEND and one on diagnoses in Hampshire โ issues that my colleagues and I are taking action on.

๐ก Rural households shouldn't be penalised just for where they live.
I spoke in Parliament today about the real cost facing families across North East Hampshire: higher bills, lower energy efficiency, and a ยฃ987 fuel poverty gap compared to urban households.
I'm calling on the Government to act.
Recently, I was able to ask questions of @Jamesblake and @JamesBloodworth, who have both worked extensively in this area. Watch here and let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

The Netflix doc has everyone talking about the manosphere, and rightly so. It's influencing a generation of young men and having negative impacts on men and women. As your MP and a member of the Women and Equalities Select Committee, I've been pushing for answers on what's driving this.
Local elections are taking place on 7 May, and every vote counts. To make sure you can have your say, you need to be registered by 11:59pm 20 April. It only takes a few minutes at www.gov.uk/register-to-...

Happy Easter to everyone in North East Hampshire and beyond, as well as to your loved ones.
I'm looking forward to recharging over the long weekend, so that I can continue to deliver for local people.
I hope you are all similarly able to enjoy the holiday, in whichever way that suits you.
๐ But cars aren't the whole picture, and we also need to look at transport in the whole.
๐ So, to help people can get to work, medical appointments, and stay connected, we'd also reduce bus fares to ยฃ1 per journey (from ยฃ3), and cut rail fares by 10%.
๐ถ Only the Lib Dems can Keep Britain Moving.
๐ข๏ธ Petrol prices affect everyone. I've heard from small businesses, commuters, and families, who are all feeling the pressure.
โฝ That's why the Lib Dems would cut fuel duty by 10%, bringing down prices at the pump by 12p per litre. With no end in sight for Trump's Iran War, something must be done.

Wishing a warm and pleasant Passover to all those observing. Chag Pesach Sameach!

I'm pleased to report that the faulty VodafoneThree mobile mast in Elvetham Heath has now been repaired.
Thank you to Elvetham Heath Parish Council, and in particular Cllr Nick White, for flagging this issue to me, and for their wider aid with my efforts to hold network operators to account.
I also argued for cookery to be taught in schools to give young people the skills to eat well and spend wisely.
And with World Down Syndrome Day last Saturday, I took the opportunity to talk about charity and volunteering work in our area.
I pressed the case for extending the energy price cap to heating oil: too many rural households in North East Hampshire remain exposed to volatile energy costs that the current policy simply doesn't address.
In case you missed it - I joined BBC Politics South last Sunday to raise a number of issues affecting our area.
Wishing all participants the very best of luck ahead of tomorrow's Fleet Half Marathon. It's a fantastic event and a great showcase for our area. Enjoy the day and good luck ๐
From 2028, every new home that is suitable will come with solar panels, cutting bills, cutting emissions, and cutting reliance on a grid under pressure. A genuine Liberal Democrat win for communities like ours.

New homes should work for the people living in them, and that means solar panels as standard, not as an afterthought.
The Government has now agreed to incorporate the Sunshine Bill into the Future Homes Standard.
Energy bills are still too high, and rising, and the homes we're building today will shape what residents pay for decades to come.
That's why, when @maxwilkinsoncheltenham brought his Sunshine Bill to the House of Commons last year, I spoke in the debate to make the case for sustainable planning.
Businesses don't just drive our economy, they are our economy.
That's why last week's Liberal Democrat Business Summit mattered.

The Government has imposed local government reorganisation on Hampshire.
Of the options on the table, the 'North Hampshire' unitary council combining Basingstoke & Deane, Hart and Rushmoor is the best outcome for North East Hampshire.

I took our campaign for a new Basingstoke Hospital to the Chancellor's door, hand-delivering a letter calling for the funding to rebuild.
The redevelopment has been delayed for too long, the maintenance costs are astronomical. Sign my petition here: www.alexbrewer.uk/campaigns/re...
A photograph of Alex Brewer MP standing with residents on the newly repaired Hatch Park road.
I am absolutely THRILLED that we have succeeded in having the road leading to Hatch Park repaired.
It has taken huge amounts of time and energy from the residents campaigning, and from my team and me speaking to the councils. We have finally done it. Now we must get the road formally adopted.
With news of gas price hikes this morning, households are bracing for yet more energy price rises and the Government has its eyes closed.
This warrants an emergency COBRA meeting. A ยฃ500 hit to household bills is coming, and people deserve a plan, not silence.
