rebels and rule breakers, they have my heart
One type of person that I have little respect for is knowledge worker who is accomplished and a thought leader with a Masters+ degree who says higher education has failed. Your entire professional and personal life came out of higher education. Wtf are you talking about???
1) Influential right-wing figures say "they're the enemy, hate them" using lies, cherry-picks, and exaggerations
2) Followers believe them, get increasingly riled up
3) "The people don't trust the institutions, it's the institutions' fault"
4) Repeat 1
Worked on elections, higher ed, and more.
It may seem paradoxical but a key to accomplishing (1) will be to deflate the psychological importance that Americans attach to their voting decision. Casting a particular ballot in a particular election needs to become understood as a small practical matter, not a titanic moment of self-expression.
this is a sweet story til you realize it's yet another totally uncritical account of the widely debunked method of facilitated communication, this time with his mother, who just happened to work as a story analyst before being her son's aid in his MFA program
Telling in two different ways:
1. Almost half of 15 year old mothers had a partner who was 20+ years old.
2. The vast majority of teen mothers are 18 or 19. Here’s what they’ve been doing instead.
😂
Three panel comic. Panel 1: scene from the movie Aliens; Ripley is in a mech suit and delivers her iconic line: “get away from her, you bitch!” Panel 2: the xenomorph queen lunges at Ripley in the robotic suit and they engage in a fight. Panel 3: later, the xenomorph queen is standing in the shower, mid wash. She says, “‘it takes one to know one, honey.’ That’s what I should have said.”
Genuinely laughed out loud
When I skimmed the first tweet I thought damn did he get into a fight with some lawyer in Potomac???
"Pentastack" is such a funny way to try and lend some sophistication and veneer to your drug abuse. These guys are all so stupid in such a perfect way
reminds me of this sketch about the evolution of drug music
1980s: the streets are full of fiends, drugs will destroy your life
1990s: i'm selling drugs but i have to feed my daughter
2000s: i'm selling drugs and it's great because now i'm rich
late 2010s-2020s: i'm sleepy doing all these drugs
Occasionally I’m served up an unnarrated video titled, “life hack” or “7 things I do when I check into a hotel” and then the video is of people doing the most insane, useless things I’ve ever seen, like wrapping the door knob in aluminum foil. What am I supposed to take from this?!
I’m sure they’re able to figure out how to land on land, but it opens you up to so many more variables that could go wrong.
What are we supposed to be paying attention to anyway? What is she even implying? 😭
They're just not reading at all! Literally the first thing on there is about a man in *Poland*! People see a headline/post and make up the story in their heads.
This is like saying everyone who visits pornhub (we know there are assault videos on there) is *into* rape. Another take I keep seeing is some version of “this is what is wrong w/America”. Of course American men aren’t above this kind of behavior but the story only mentions Euro & African countries.
So this isn’t what the article says at all. There were 62 million visitors to a kink site on which there was a group of users sharing assault tips/videos. This is actually a great example of how social media is incentivized to demoralize and depress you.
I hope when I see MOTHER MARY I don’t find out that what early reactions are describing as “pretentious” turns out to mean “seems like a play.”
💀💀💀 someone HELP us
Please read the article if you actually care instead of just using it as a talking point for whatever is bothering you today
People act like it's inconceivable that our perceptions of the economy could be dictated by media (or the Evil Rectangle). But we have evidence of the same phenomenon in other contexts! Crime has trended downward in the U.S. since the 70s, but so many are convinced there's more crime than ever.
The story is about a GLOBAL network….?
It's SO MUCH SAFER NOW! And yet we are expected to always have eyes on our kids from 0-21 as if that isn't stunting their independence.
People will #retvrn over anything. Parents don’t let their kids roam around because we have a culture of fear. Some of which was valid because people really did used to get murdered and assaulted much more regularly. Now social media just fuels this imaginary fear of stranger danger.
The percentage of the adult population overall that works full time has not changed drastically from the 70s. Let alone where did the idea come from that there are less people home during the day??? Source??? 😂
Type of fit you’d wear to reveal an Xbox exclusive first person shooter on stage at E3 2012.
THIS IS CATHOLICISM BITCH!!! we believe the Pope is infallible in this muthafucka betta take yo sensitive ass back to American protestantism
Pope Leo XIV Today, more than ever, we must return to the heart, the center of feeling and emotion, the locus of freedom. Though it includes reason, the heart transcends and transforms it. Only by returning to the heart can we undergo a true ecological conversion that transforms our personal Austin I reject this whole heartedly. What you fail to see Mr Pope, the Bible says
really enjoying all the people trying to explain the bible to the pope today
