Menopausal hormone therapy is free in B.C. and Manitoba. Why not in the rest of Canada? by @picardonhealth.bsky.social www.theglobeandmail.com/gift/0fc7a92... via @theglobeandmail.com
We’re heading to Ottawa to advocate for a national framework for women’s health. We are proud to align our advocacy efforts with the Women’s Health Campaign and support the advancement of Bill S-243, a national framework designed to improve health outcomes for women across Canada. This legislation reflects the urgency we see every day with gaps in menopause care. Menopause is an important health transition, yet many women struggle to find healthcare providers who have the knowledge and the confidence to deliver the comprehensive care they need. While safe and effective treatments for bothersome symptoms are available, many women don’t have easy or equitable access to them. Women over 40 make up one quarter of the population and of the workforce. It is estimated that unmanaged symptoms of menopause cost the Canadian economy $3.5 billion every year due to missed days of work, lost productivity, and women losing income during their peak earning years. We have an exciting opportunity to change this reality.
We are aligning with the Women’s Health Campaign & support advancement of Bill S-243, a national framework designed to improve health outcomes for women across Canada. This legislation reflects the urgency we see every day with gaps in menopause care. #ForWomenForCanada #WomensHealthMatters
