Keir Starmer says it's 'staggering' he wasn’t told Mandelson failed security vetting - live updates Opposition parties say the PM should go; No 10 insists the PM didn't know Lord Mandelson had failed vetting to become US ambassador until this week.

Starmer misled Parliament over Mandelson. He says that’s because he hadn’t been told Mandelson had failed security vetting. That’s hard to believe. If it’s true his government is even more chaotic and dysfunctional than previously suspected. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cn...

Lovely evening at St Martin in the Fields listening to Handel’s Messiah. #EasterMonday #Baroque #Handel

Well you chose to engage with me Robert. And no, asking questions on social media isn’t a “Westminster” thing. It’s about having dialogue. Anyway I’m afraid I don’t agree with you. I think a pro Indy two party Holyrood composition will find itself in the same impasse the last one did. Best wishes JN

I know all of that. I’m interested in how we get from aspiration to delivery. We’ve had one referendum as you know. It was delivered because of an SNP majority. Westminster dismissed a SNP Green majority.

That is not my reading. Westminster doesn’t want to hold a referendum and will do everything possible to prevent one. There is one precedent set by Salmond in 2014. An SNP majority.

The Declaration of Arbroath was signed on this day - a letter to the Pope asserting Scotland’s right to independence and self determination.

Principles we hold dear to this day.

Explain to me how this will produce a different constitutional outcome from the last Parliament which had an independence majority with the Greens?

Holyrood had an independence majority with the Greens in the last Parliament. How do you think another independence majority with the Greens will be different this time Margaret?

Sixteen point lead for @theSNP as, far behind, Reform & Labour battle it out for 2nd / 3rd place.

But - every vote counts! So vote…. #SP26 #bothvotessnp

Is it wrong to defect from one political party to another? I talked to Matt Forde about some political titans who have - Churchill, Reagan, Robert Kilroy Silk, and my pal Nads Dorries. Have a wee listen. Do you agree? www.instagram.com/reel/DWbWYvk...

I think it’s fair to say he appears not to be a fan of Scottish self determination. But I don’t know him well and have never explored the subject with him.

Had this wee auction find restored - an early self portrait by Charles Cameron Baillie. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art, visited Paris at the dawn of Art Deco, and designed interiors both for The Queen Mary and the beautiful Rogano in Glasgow.

Football, politics and religion. Everything my Mum told me I should never talk about when I get invited out. I talked about them all with ⁦‪@mattforde‬⁩ on his show. Nationalism too. And broccoli. Have a wee listen….. whatcha think? www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

As most people know I’m quite a dour person without much of a sense of humour. Inexplicable therefore that @mattforde invited me on to his radio comedy show.

For better or worse I’ll be on with him tonight @BBCRadio4 at 18.30

Great to see the @ubiquitouschip has now been listed by @HistEnvScot - in large part because of its @AGrayArchive murals.

As a wee boy I was in the Young @ObserverUK Reporters’ Club. I got my first ever article published interviewing the owner about the Chip food & art!

The trans obsession was very much an online Twitter phenomenon fuelled by conspiracy theorists and some elements of the press. The voting public really wasn’t interested.

Oh poor wee Wings Over Bath? He’s absolutely obsessed by me. Unrequited love I suspect. But yes you can hear it on BBC Sounds. Tuesday Radio Scotland ‘Drive’ just after 5. I was on with another journalist.

The #Reform leader in Scotland - Lord Offord - says the media have been taking “a pop” at him for telling a grotesque homophobic “joke.”

He’s apologised for the “joke”. But it gives a flavour of the man and his character. Here it is. Judge for yourselves.

She had many jobs. Leading a party, governing a country, and saving lives during COVID. On independence we have a problem: Scots voted no in a referendum. Almost no other country in the world has done this.
