thanks!
For the new @inbedwiththeright.bsky.social episode, @moiradonegan.bsky.social and I had the absolute pleasure of speaking with the brilliant @bildoperationen.bsky.social! About AI slop and how AI generated images became the new fascist aesthetic podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i...

As the United States launches an imperialist trade war against Canada and Mexico, it’s time for countries to come together to form an alliance against the US — and that includes rapidly curtailing their dependence on Silicon Valley.
The US can’t be allowed to get away with this.

AI image synthesis is inherently wasteful. As we all know but often ignore, anything called AI today consumes enormous energy resources and computing power. Also, it relies on the mass exploitation of human labor on a planetary scale. But there’s more to it …

the world feels so different now
Dramatic b&w photographs of massive industrial structures.
Constantly inspired by the work of German photographer Albert Renger-Patzsch... he's definitely not as well known as he should be. Such an wonderful eye for composition, and amazing to think these industrial studies were made in the 1920s...
hi Liam, nice to see you here too!
A businessman (salaryman) stands on an empty platform waiting for the last train home, in Tokyo Japan. The image is vertical with a cold blue sterile feeling to it. Above him and in the distance are large modern buildings, one sign can be seen briefly - YODOBASHI - one of the worlds largest electronic stores. He holds a briefcase and is lit up by halogen lights overhead. Overhead wires and buildings tower over him, he makes up a tenth of the image in scale. At first glance it may look like an illustration due to the colour treatment.
Photography by Liam Wong of Tokyo at night. A woman walks through the center of a tall vertical frame in the rain holding an umbrella. Overhead is large LED sign.

The pieces in this collection dance better together, in pairs, but they are also ready to dance solo.
